Default Rakebackasia - Our website has been cloned!!

Yesterday I was just making a Google search and discovered an exact website that cloned our one.

    What they did:

    • All they did was to change "Worldpokerdeals" for "Rakebackasia", although on some pages they forgot to do it.
    • Copied the entire website (the frames, esthetics, content, etc)
    • Copied almost all the content (they didn't even to bother the change the name of the people who posts on the blogs)
    • It seems that the website has not been updated for a few weeks or even months
    • They have non-existent Skype contacts and there is a phone number but have no idea if it's real.

What is concerning is that they have a message with a bank account mentioning "in order to start playing, please make a deposit to this bank account in China", hopefully, no player will get scammed, but who knows.

    What should our move here?

    Regards!

Rick (Universal4), I have sent you a private message. Today we found a video on Youtube when they openly promote the cloned site and introduce themselves as Asian experts, something which is clearly not true.

Quick update. Mikael contacted us today and explained that he was asked to join the project and be a brand face of the site by the third party guys.

At the moment Mike quit all relations with ppl who stand behind the site.

We lift all complaints towards Mike.

    Thanks for your time.

There are even websites with companies that offer cloning services so it seems easy to do. It must have been heartbreaking when you saw the clone of your site...

I see the cloned website is down now, I am happy for you.
Your website looks really good, that's why they want to steal the design etc...

    Thanks for your comments guys.

What was interesting about this was that the website managed to hire a known pro-poker player to advertise their site. I mean, cloning should be easy (as Cardy007 says, you can buy a "clone package"), but having someone risking its reputation for a shady website?

I have just found out that this has happened to me. Bingo-Lingo.com is linking to my images from GlitzyBingo.co.uk. The interesting thing is that I used to own the domain name bingo-lingo.com and I let it lapse in 2018. After doing an extensive whois I have found out that someone from asia has registered it, copied my source. I have just contacted the new host company and hopefully they will take it down! I am now just trying to figure out how to block hotlinking of images!

If they are linking directly to your images, why don't you change the image to something that says "I stole these images from GlitzyBingo.co.uk" or something like that? Then your URL is there and people will know if they visit it.

They are using some sort of clever iframe code, so what's actually happening is apart from the index page all my pages are being cloned in real time, so when I make a minor change it updates. I have managed to trace the hosting company and sent a request for removal and have blocked the images in my htaccess from loading on that domain but it still has the text, and links. Trying to figure out of there is a way it can be blocked entirely.

Some Asian company that has done it, how they have managed to use an old domain which had no content with my glitzy bingo affiliate website is beyond me..

Ah I see. You can break out of an iframe. I'm sure this has been mentioned previously in a thread here so might be worth searching for it here too.
I've never done this myself but there's some code here that you can try here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Framekiller
If that doesn't help it's at least a start on what you can look for.

If you're using wordpress there is a plugin you can use called wp framebreaker.

    Good luck!

Thanks Renee, I have tried the code but with no avail. But I have managed to change a few things in my code to block the pages from loading in their domain. Joys of being owning a website!
