In August 2022, the Dutch legal gambling websites and apps reached more than 1.8 million people on PC/Laptop, smartphone and tablets (GfK GXL DAM, 1,858.00 people aged 18 and older) after 16 providers of legal gambling websites and apps were active, licensed by the Gaming Authority, according to a new report from Growth from Knowledge.

You may remember that back in March, René Jansen, Chairman of Dutch regulator gaming Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), said that the country’s online gambling market was not yet as big as initially expected after launching in October 2021 and attracting 634,000 player accounts as of March 1 2022.

From the GFK press release:

Young people under the age of 35 were most reached in August (634,000 people, 16% of 18-34 year olds). The number of visitors to the gambling sites decreases with age: 15% of the 35-49 year-olds was reached, 12% of the 50-64 year-olds and just under 10% of the over-65s. It is striking that men visit gambling websites and apps more often than women: 60% of online visitors are male and they also visited gambling brands much more frequently. More than three quarters of the online visits to these websites are made by men (78%), compared to 22% by female visitors.

Not every online visitor is also a (frequent) player: 46% of the visitors came into contact with one of the gambling brands only once in August. Just over a fifth (21%) visited a gambling brand 6 days or more per month (380,000 people aged 18 and over). Of this group of frequent visitors, the 35-49 year-olds were reached relatively most often.
