Report: Female gambling addicts outnumber male addicts in Sweden

The number of people who gamble in Sweden remained the same in 2018, the number of gambling addicts increased by nearly half, while female gambling addicts now outnumber men, according to a new report released by Folkhalsomyndigheten, Sweden's Public Health Authority.

Overall, the proportion of Swedes with some degree of gambling problems decreased from about 6 percent to just over 4 percent between 2015 and 2018.

However, there was a 50% increase in the number of people who have such serious gambling problems that it can be about an addiction. This group includes 45,000 people aged 16 and up. Half are women, and among them the gambling problems have increased over the last ten years.

Although the proportion with gambling problems has generally decreased in the population, it is worrying that more people have serious gambling problems and that we see an increase among women, says investigator Ulla Romild at the Public Health Authority.

In Japan, women rarely play gambling and men enjoy public gambling.
The culture in which women are gambling is interesting.

In Europe , women gamble a lot in land based casinos. They like roulette, slots and poker.
Such games they bet online as well!!

Interestingly enough, in Finland the local mafia, err monopoly, that is still ruling the gambling markets because they are doing it for the "good of the people" has been ramping up their marketing and only making the situation worse in recent years. And I know for a fact that no gambling jurisdiction or online casinos(or affiliates) care about the matter either, so this is something that is gonna rock the industry in a few years when the issue gets way too difficult to manage.
