    Red face review my site

I have been reading for a few weeks now and picking up a number of do's and dont's from the fellow member at gpwa. I've now, effective 2 days ago, finally launched my four month old project and would like a little feedback/criticism

Thanks for your time/consideration and honest opinions in advance. www.bingograpes.com

The site looks really good and it's certainly an original theme that adds some stickiness to your site.

Worth all the hard work. Good luck with the site!

    Default Thanks So much!

Thanks for the kind words and encouragement We have many new plans for 2007 for the page to increase stickiness even further so im glad that the initial footing we've laid is worthy of building on!

    Many thanks!

I like it a lot! That is one of the most original sites I have seen in a long time. Good luck - looks like you are well on your way to success already.

Nice site, effective and as everyone else has said, it's different from the norm.

I do have one question though, is this based on a GPL script?

I ask this as the external CSS you've used is 90% identical (class tags their positioning & content) to an asp CMS (GPL script) I used for a client early this year.

Not that that's an issue, just that I can't locate the GPL copyright @ the footer of your site.

If, and I don't mean to sound offensive or to be pointing the finger, but, if this is based on a GPL script and or you've used a template that requires the copyright (not to be removed) I'd suggest you restore it asap.

    Smile

    Hi Dave,

    Thanks for the review.

As per your inquiry re: my sites possible copyright infringement, I wanted to address that concern. 100% of this code for this site was hand coded from scratch by my boyfriend from July until launch on October 29th. He has been doing it professionally for 10 years There are no borrowed, 3rd party or manipulated scripts of any kind on the site. They are all 100% his intellectual property. As for the site design the model of the site came from this template

    http://www.templatemonster.com/websi...ates/8406.html

Which was legitmately purchased from Monster Templates In february of 2006 year by myself and I just stripped all the insides of it out and manipulated it to set it up for a gaming portal instead just because the color layout and design intrigued me. There were no copyright instructions included with the template nor any stripped out of the template. If my understanding of my rights to do so is incorrect please advise.

Hoping this answers your questions and if you have any others please feel free to ask.

    Hi awood,

I really didn't want to offend you, hence was trying to be as tactful as possible, I thank you for clearing this matter up.

For anyone else looking on, and who maybe wondering why I bothered, I'll simply say that it's a subject I feel pretty strongly about. I'll leave it at that

Again thanks awood for the candid response

    Cheers

    Dave

    Thumbs up

    Hi Dave,

I was not in any way offended, and knowing that this project took two of us a thousand man hours a piece to get launched, and I Havent seen a movie or been out of my house really for 5 mos lol I'd feel pretty strongly too if I suspected someone hijacked some of our code or creative materials lol

My guess is any coincidences in the css sheet would stem from my having stripped out the in page styles from the template and dumped them in an external sheet to add to with my own more efficiently. So items like text1 text2 link 1 link2 etc. are probably matching up on a number of templates since they dont name these very well and for the most part i renamed & altered but those basic ones that i used on each page i just left alone.

    Cheers,
    Anne
