Romanian 40% Withdrawal Tax

Hm, this seems a bit like a joke?

I don't think that many players will withdraw their winnings if they face so high taxes. So they might end up gambling away all their winnings. At least to me this looks like as if this tax will probably decrease withdrawals and increase net gaming revenues at online casinos.

No way this can be serious, regulated "deposit only" sportsbooks won't last very long.

It is no proposal anymore. It will be applied from 1st August, but like this:

* up to 3000 RON (~600 Euros) - 10%
* from 3000 RON to 10.000 RON (~2000 EUROS) - 300 RON + 20% for the amount >3000 RON
* > 10000 RON (~2k Euros) - 1700 RON + 40% for the amount > 10.000

So, if you withdraw 12.000 (2.5 k euros) you will pay 1700 RON + 500 RON (40% from 2000) = 2200 RON (~550 euros)

In conclusion, for small withdrawals, up to 600 euros, you will pay only 10%. Pretty decent.

It's decent until 600 euros. After that it's getting worse.

It's not quite a surprise. Romania is a bankrupt country, government needs money...

I also just heard about this in iGB by Superbet reps.. this is sounds like a very bad joke.. but unfortunately the talks about it are very real.. however fro what I was told this is still not yet approved.

So, according to the new government ordonance, we have this taxes:

up to 10.000 RON (~2k eur) : 3%
from 10.000 to 66750 RON (2k - to ~13.5k euros) : 300 RON + 20% for the amount >10.000
>66750 RON : 11.650 RON + 40% for the amount >66750 RON

Still huge, but a little bit better then first propose. And in this form will be applied from August 1st.
