Default Safety shields at casino and poker tables?

I'm curious if anyone else things this is silly that casinos open up with safety shields at casino and poker tables when you can just play online.

    Silly, not really.

People will still go to casinos.
If you are sitting next to a person who is sick, will you then continue to think the sheild is silly?

Will more play online due to safety concerns? Likely, but for those that don't, I am guessing they will get used to the shields and may eventually feel better they are there.

I do see this as harming the experience friends and loved ones feel when visiting a casino and playing together, since it will tend to make them feel "separated" or more "alone" and for some the thrill of playing together will be changed.

Oh yeah, the shields will keep the evil virus away!

Pay no attention to the dirty table, the cards which have been handled by everyone, or the absolutely filthy chips because it has been proven that Covid can't live on those things.

For the foreseeable future I would stay well away from land casinos. It will be impossible to keep all surfaces disinfected let alone the issue of being next to someone that potentially has the virus.

I can agree to the certain extent. But before this all corona thing, sick people went to casinos... Also how can someone having the corona virus go to the casino?
For me it's a bit silly measure, but again, as I said I can agree to the certain extent.
