Default Scam : Don't do advertising for xxfreebets.co.uk or xxMax-Exposure.com (ad agency)

Started last week, 'Gwen Peterson, PR Specialist' contacted me from xxmax-exposure.com asking if I would publish some content for her / her client xxfreebets.co.uk

We discussed things, agreed a price, emails fast, polite etc. No negative reviews or anything anywhere about either company that I could see.

Got the content live after a few small changes, she was happy. Time to pay, not a thing, no response to emails, no payment.

At first I thought dodgy ad agency, maybe the girl is off for a couple of days, so left it up over the weekend, then removed it and changed it to a scam warning that should be indexed by google in the next few hours, hopefully anyway as can't find anything out about either company really.

Before I did that I did contact
xxfreebets.co.uk on twitter and facebook, as they have no contact details on site, then after i changed the content sent them a link, they have seen the messages and clicked the link to show they have seen the changed content, so obviously just a scam by them to buy space and not pay.

Just a warning to anyone else out there who might be contacted by them, not to deal with them. I know this will get picked up by google fairly quickly too, so trying to stop anyone else wasting their time with them both.

Have you talked to anyone directly at xxfreebets.co.uk about the issue?

If you dealt with only someone from xxmax-exposure, and they are the ones you made the agreement with, and they are the ones that owe you the money, why then do you accuse freebets as being the scam?

They may well be involved and may well have direct a direct connection with freebets, but it seems the ad agency are the ones at fault here unless you have a proven direct connection.

Have you verified that they did not hire this ad agency to do promotions for them and they are innocent?

Have you tried to find the person here at the gpwa?

Did you have any contact with the site owners in advance of running the promotion?

    Thanks for the reply Rick
There are no contact details on the site.

I sent a message via facebook to the .co.uk site, read, no reply.
I tweeted them 3 times, then another 4 today with details of what I've changed and a link to the changes on my site. I posted to their facebook page too. They read them as each time, I was tracking the link I sent them, each time someone in germany viewed it. No one else could have clicked the link as it was unique to what i sent them.
I have searched on here before I posted and didn't find any results.

The reason I messaged them via all means possible before posting was in case they were innocent, although I'm not sure why an ad agency would ask someone to put content and links to someones site if they weren't being paid.

The fact they have seen my messages and haven't replied, to me speaks volumes. Even a 'what you talking about' reply would have made me start talking to them before posting. I also sent the link to this thread about 3 minutes after posting, which I can see from bit.ly was clicked shortly afterwards.

If they are an innocent party in this then I think they would have replied, especially considering they have been quite active on social media over the past 24 hours.

I wouldn't mind knowing what the search you performed was since I found an account here under the domain name very easily.

And as far as hiring the ad a, they might have a deal where they pay for results, and then the ad agency goes out and makes deals (whether valid or fraudulent) and the ad agency might do bad stuff to both the site owner as well as those they purchase advertising/publishing from.

I am not saying that was this situation, but it is within the realm of possibilities.

I will try and reach out for you, although the account I found was quite old and never became active.

    Hi Rick

I searched for (xx)freebets.co.uk in the search box.

I agree, but their lack of response after reading my messages yesterday and today, leads me to think they are aware of whats going on. I did not just post the thread without attempting to contact them and the ad agency numerous times.

If someone contacted me with a query like this I would most certainly respond, and quickly, and also be having words with the ad agency and getting them to make contact.

If they have an account here then they have been perfectly able to reply to this thread

If they get in touch and we sort the problem out, and there is a reasonable explanation as to why neither they or the ad agency can spend a couple of minutes to write a email or a few seconds to tweet, then I have no problem updating the thread.

    Thanks for your help Rick

    To be honest ...

If someone I didn't know contacted me for payment about a link I knew nothing about I am not sure that I would engage with you.
Straight into the delete / ignore category. But then I don't do paid links.

You are right that if they are using an agency / are in the middle of a campaign then I would expect some sort of response ...
Even if it was the site getting the agency to make contact.

Yes it is now owned by an Israeli media company - Mind you, i have to agree with the posters comments about social media, because they bombard it throughout the day and its surely over-kill !!

Thanks, I completely get where you are coming from, and i agree, however,
My first contact was not 'you owe me money'
In fact none of my contact has mentioned payment. It started off basically inquiring about the ad agency, then, as it went on, to the stage of showing them I had changed the text about them - giving them a chance to respond, at which time I would have removed it and not posted on here, then finally posting on here, and a link to the thread. No response at all, even though I know for a fact they have read my messages, clicked the link to my site with the updated text on, and have clicked the link to this thread.

I have not once asked for payment from the site in question, but they are fully aware of whats gone on. The fact they choose not to respond whatsoever speaks volumes to me, and in my mind they are the scammers just as much as the ad agency.

Use the content they gave you and do some article blasts on Fiverr with it. A few hundred thousand links would be nice. Dont forget to add there link to the content too

Hi, I am new here. I found this thread sometime last month when I was researching the same company but chose not to reply to it until I have had some clarity. Gwen Peterson contacted me asking for links. We agreed a deal for 10 of my sites totalling 120 GBP. I agreed to be paid on the 10th of last month. I had to do a research on them before agreeing to the deal.

This thread almost convinced me not do to the deal but I gave Gwen a chance and to be honest, I have not rejected it.

Unlike you, I was paid as promised. And because of this, I do not think they are a scam. Gwen could do better with replying emails. He made me wait for about 5 days before replying me at some stage ( which gave me doubts ) and as I write this, I am waiting for a reply on another payment of 240 as I was to be paid 120 in 3 places for another deal but only one of those was paid.

I enjoy working with him so far but I must say they need to learn to reply emails on time especially when the site owner completes their jobs on time.

I don't think max-exposure is still in business. I had three contacts there who all went silent.

They are. They are a bit unprofessional and slow to reply emails though. I can exchange contacts with you via PM if you want.

They are surely a fraudulent company. I will be posting about my experience and that of few others in a couple of days. It is hefty and Simon Ambler knows about this scam.

Xlmedia who owns Webpals and in turn outsource to max-exposure.com are just unreliable companies. I exposed their scams in this thread.
