Mike Sexton is known to many poker players, both serious and casual, as the announcer for World Poker Tour broadcasts on the Travel Channel. He is also an established professional with $3 million in lifetime tournament winnings.

Many call him a poker expert, so defense attorney Jeff Phillips is bringing Sexton to South Carolina to testify in a case of five poker players. The players were busted in 2006 for participating in a local poker game.

From CardPlayer:

Phillips said that he was bringing in two expert witnesses — Sexton, considered a longtime ambassador for the game, and Robert Hannum, a professor of statistics who testified in a recent Colorado case in which poker players successfully argued that poker was a game of skill in their state.

The five South Carolina men were originally arrested after half a dozen police officers raided their weekly home game.
CardPlayer also reports that the PPA has assisted the five defendants.
