Simple Facebook Like Question

Hi,

I know you guys may be laughing about this but I really cannot figure this out, guess Im way too stupid for all that social stuff. ;)

Here is the thing: Lets say someone reads an article on my site and then clicks the facebook like button I have integrated below that article. Now the like count on my website and that particular rises and actually shows for example 2. But then again the same article which has been automatically posted on the facebook fanpage, shouldnt the like count there also show the number of likes the article got on my site?

I know its difficult to understand what I mean but I hope some of you did actually get me. :)

How did you integrate the like button below the article? Is the user liking your article or your fb page?

For now its just activated through the jetpack module, I dont remember choosing either option. I think it refers to the article though.

I think I understand what you mean, but I don't think I know how to help you with that... This happens because for FB it's basically different content, that's why likes are separate. If you have another plugin that automatically posts your articles on FB it won't recognize that there's a like button integrated within the article itself. Unless its supposed to be one plugin, then maybe something is not working properly ?.?

I think you are right Casino Online Rating... How should FB "know" these two things are connected.

FB is the lousiest when it comes to dev user friendliness. I do understand these tech things and I still find myself scratching my head when I need to create a simple app which will allow users to actually like my FB page when clicking on my site.

My personal opinion is that FB is dead and will stick around as a simple way to register with websites. Like your ID on the internet. But the thrill is gone. Twitter is where the action is.

A thing that annoys me the most is the social media buttons loading time. Click my signature and open an article - you'll see that the page loads pretty quickly and then you wait 4-5 seconds for the social media icons to load - FB being responsible for that.

So I'm phasing out FB, just need to think of a way to keep it as an option while eliminating the downsides (the loading time). I'll likely retain the general FB page like button, but will host it myself and will write custom code for it.

I don't know the solution to your problem. But maybe what I wrote can help in some way down the line.

if they like your article , it actually appears on their timeline/homepage as something they are sharing with their friends

it doesnt connect with your facebook page itself.

I have a popular movie review site that this happens daily on. There is also no way of tracking who actually liked the page either unless they make a comment as well as like (unless Im mistaken, ive tried to work that out but its not possible)
