Default Skrill and Neteller stop gambling payments in Norway

Skrill and Neteller have informed merchants that they will no longer be processing online gambling payments in Norway, as of 8 December 2020.

According to Paynura.com, Norwegian players are not able to deposit with Skrill and NETELLER, but the option to withdraw their funds from merchants to Skrill or NETELLER accounts will be enabled until 21 December. After that, players will not be able to cash out from their gambling accounts to Skrill and NETELLER but will have to use other payout options.

    As for affiliates:

This change will affect the work of Norwegian affiliates that promote Skrill and Neteller in Norway. Since deposits to gambling merchants will be canceled on December 8, 2020, this will cut all affiliate income flows from Norwegian players and punters.

However, affiliates in Norway that are focusing on other markets will continue their business as usual. If you are an affiliate in Norway, providing services for players across Europe, Asia, or Lat America, this shouldn't disturb your game.
According to Affiliate Insider, "ecoPayz is now the only viable alternative. This payment solution is currently still accepted at online casinos and sports betting sites across the globe, including Norway."

    Good to know!

For posting I guess it is advisable to say “a lot of options” and use qualifiers like “such as”, but what a pain to udate.

    How odd !
    And why?

Is it over regulation in Norway?

    Another reason to use bitcoins.

im suprised they stopped skrill. skrill works with some usa poker and casino sites, which seem to be the hardest to have a good payment processor on

Let me guess and say that Paysafe (owner of Skrill and Neteller) will become a major "player" in the Norwegian market after the regulation planned?

    Deal-Deal $$$

It's only getting worse for Neteller and Skrill. Neteller used to be very reliable. I expect that they'll also stop payments for other countries in the near future.

This is most probably what will happen for Paysafe as a payment service provider, but for our industry the Norway market will most probably be closed somewhere in the near future, there are talks about making gambling a state monopoly...

Really not surprising news. Card payments for norwegian customers have been hard for casinos to process for many months now, so Paysafe stepping out as well seems anticipated.
