Default Slots.com domain selling for 5 million!

I just received an email that the domain Slots.com is up for auction this weekend in NY. Word is that it will bring in 5-6 million!
I used to write for this site extensively probably doing about 300 articles.
A few years back, I wrote for casino.com, again over 300 articles and it sold
for 5 million at the time.
I should advertise: Hire me for content and your site will sell for millions

    P.S. reference: www.slots.com

Ahh domains, hindsight is 20mil/20mil. I just read business.com is going for between 300 and 400 million.

But what people ask for domains and what people are prepared to pay for domains are two very different things. The problem with selling/buying domains a lot of the time is that sellers want to sell it based on a domain name's "potential", but potential doesn't guarantee profit. And at $5 million it could be an expensive mistake in a risky industry. Too many outside factors could affect that potential: what Google does, what the law says & changes in lawmakers etc.

The Traffic Auction in NY This week is selling off a stack of domains but many are not fetching reserve prices. Slots.com was also touted at CAC Amsterdam and got no takers.

I'd be incredibly surprised if it sold at $5 million.

@ Gayle - Must have been a different company you were writing for - probably SlotsPlus?

None of your content is on Slots.com

So what are you going to do with your $5mil Christina?

Plenty of snow in Aspen right now. I'm told Fiji's pretty nice this time of the year.

Christina, yes, it was slots.com but if you notice my post is from 2007 and it was about 05-6 that I was writing for them. My memory may have slowed down, but it hasn't stopped!
