Default Some A Hole is submitting my email address!

    Hi all,

Received the next part of a double opt-in today from a casino portal. Problem is I didn't submit my email to this place.

Fortunately they use a double opt-in but this now helps me join the dots and is probably the reason I'm getting flooded with spam.

The email had the originating IP from who added my email addy (should also add that my name was included):

    Request generated by:
IP: 94.172.25.35 (virgin media UK ISP)
    Date: January 6, 2010 17:28 EST

I'm in Australia and use BigPond and a IP C-Class range of 122.xxx.xxx.xxx

Reiterating I'm sure most of the spam I'm getting is from sites that don't use a double opt-in to check validity of the submitted email address. Which IMHO is BS.

However now I have this info I'm going all out to find who this is, if I can.

    Cheers

    Dave

Dave, from that header it will be very hard to locate the culprit as virgin media is the 2nd largest telephone supplier in the uk.

They are the only cable operator over here.

    I am on BT btw

    Hi Paul,

    Thanks for the heads up.

I've contacted the portal owner and am awaiting more info. Granted a needle in a hay stack but with more info it's worth a shot.

    Cheers

Croydon, South London - if you reverse DNS that the string 'croy' appears in there and that denotes one of their their hubs - and they have one in Croydon.

Probably not that helpful but might narrow it down a little - made any enemies in South London?

Whoa! Did you get on someones bad side mate?

The only issue with narrowing the IP down is that sometimes the hubs cross over..

What a frickin pain in the ass.. although it might explain how I started getting some spam to certain email addresses too.. wouldnt surprise me if this has happened to me..

    Good luck mate!

I don't really understand most of this stuff but have this to offer.

Once over at CAP someone from the Russian area had asked me to look at their new casino and give my thoughts so I went looked it over.

First thing it did was auto-download the casino onto my PC. No choice to it.

I told the person they'd only **** people off doing that .. yada yada.

anyway bout 2 or few more days later I began getting a ton of spam which I could only guess was in Russian and I got some Chinese too. I still do to this day.

my repayment for taking time out of my day for someone's request.

How sad of a life it must be to have time to spend doing something like this to another.

    Sorry you're enduring this Dave.
Almost Here! How would you like to be able to get not just one sign up from your player, or even a couple, but every single casino they join from here on? I've a plan that can make that happen and it will likely also tell you every time the player is active within the casino.

Like myself, I am getting spam from lot of casino's, but usually those are affiliates who are sending those.
I have never used my personal email on any forums, so I think someone have databases or something where from they have got my email adderes.
