    Default Some NETeller funds frozen

USA TODAY is reporting that NETeller funds are being held in court to be used as evidence in the trials of NETeller co-founders Stephen Lawrence and John Lefebvre. I'm trying to get more details from the FBI. I'll post whatever I learn in this thread.

FBI Agent Neil Donovan says funds from Neteller are being held in court as potential evidence. Some customers may get their money back, but he did not provide a timetable.

Is this just USA account holders or is this anyone with a Neteller account?

That's my understanding at this point, but I'll get it confirmed to make sure.

I don't believe they have much. After September I think Neteller avoids having large sums on US banks. Most of the money is held unreachable by US jurisdiction. But, unfortunately, also unreachable to US clients...

    Update:

The U.S. Attorney's office refuses to confirm or deny the report. The FBI hasn't called us back yet. I think they will, it's just a matter of getting a hold of the right information officer. And of course, NETeller is silent on the issue. As soon as we get word from the FBI on what's going on, we'll post it here.

NETeller has confirmed that some funds have been frozen, along with the fact that U.S. banks won't work with their automated clearinghouses. Here's a link to the thread that includes the NETeller release and our story on it.

    Angry annoyed

Regardless of Neteller's problems, they should be releasing funds via check. There is no way the FBI has frozen every asset in Neteller, it's not possible. The FBI has no jurisdiction. Neteller is a sanctioned company in the UK/Euro. People forget this quickly.

The fact that Neteller still has a "pending" status for funds I tried to withdraw before the meltdown is BS.
