Spain’s Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling approved new provisions to its gambling code on Monday, including enforcing new measures that ban licensed operators from offering betting markets on "under-18 sanctioned sporting events."
The DGOJ said on its website that the measure "will help eliminate the possibility of competitions being manipulated through the perversion of athletes whose sports and personal maturity has not yet been completed and, therefore, more likely to be influenced."

- In the first place, due to the relevance of establishing a clear separation between the scope of minors and that of all types of bets in order to avoid the banalization of the risks of the activity of games and bets by minors.
- And, secondly, with the purpose of guaranteeing the healthy participation of those in the practice of activities that contribute to an adequate development of the personality, without incurring the risk that they participate in the same exogenous constrictions to these practices derived from the appearance of economic interests of third parties.
