    Default Spam from Casinotop10.net

Anyone else getting loads of spam from linda the webmaster for casinotop10 dot net?
This woman has sent me over a dozen unsolicited emails. I even responded and said I was not interested. She responded. I thought we were in agreement but I've gotten even more emails.

    just to name a few.........

    Hello again,
I write to follow up on my last email regarding pokerzone.com because no one got back to me.
I just want to make sure the email did not get caught by an over active junk mail filter.
Maybe you are on holiday, and if so, enjoy it.
I look forward to your answer upon your return.
    Best Regards,
    Linda Tonisson

My name is Linda, and I am the webmaster for CasinoTop10.net, a well-respected guide to online casino games.
I am writing to propose collaboration with your site pokerzone.com.
This isn't the first time I have come across your site, and have always thought there is a solid connection to casino games. I think it would be good for us to have some form of cooperation.
Is cooperation something you would be open to?

You just fell for the oldest spambot trick on the web.

This is for everyone to know...especially people who have websites or build websites...or automatically receives emails messages from a website....really anyone who has an email address as well:

There are bots out there that send out an email and try to gauge out who will respond back. Those people who respond back will be marked as "active emails". They will store your email in a database/list and will later sell or utilize that list to send out MORE spam. Sometimes they use different things to gauge what you are responding to. For example, if you responded to an email about Books, they will mark you as an active email and also that you are interested in books. They sell these list to book companies who send even MORE spam.

Some will actually respond as actual people but you WILL be marked.

Now I don't mean to scare you for what I am about to say next... sometimes there are programs out there scan for that ACTIVE emails to see what else you are interested or even pry into your personal life (facebook, twitter, forums) and find addresses, images, personal accounts (from any weak security sites), any sites that asks for password security questions (mothers maiden name, pets name, etc.) they use those as a way to get further into what they want.

I doubt you will see it from this email....but please...do not respond to emails you don't know....ever.

also if you get a newsletter email that you NEVER EVER EVER EVER signed up for...DO NOT HIT the unsubscribe button. that shows that you are an active email as well.

What do you do? just delete it...mark it as junk...block it. all email services have these...use them.

I am looking out for you and everyone else...

but rest assure...there are things called CAN-SPAM ACTs that protect you....somewhat.

My point being that no one wants to read replies to dead posts. This issue was raised nearly a year ago. There were only two posts in the thread. If Eric had wanted to continue the discussion back when it was current, he would have replied to CityGuard. Eric has either dealt with it or the spammer has moved on.

Spammers resurrect old posts all the time. It just leaves a bad taste.....

I'm not saying your post doesn't contain valuable information - it does! And I'm not saying you're a spammer. I hope you're not.

But there are better ways to convey that info than by raising dead posts. Starting a new thread to discuss the topic in general would garner a more favorable reaction.

I'm not trying to bash you or belittle you, just trying to help you get off on the right foot.

I really do welcome you to the forums. I look forward to hearing more from you - based on your reply to Eric, it looks like you've got great advice to share.

I understand you are not bashing me or belittling me. I just don't understand why i should create a new post or post on a current one. I should be able to post anywhere...in fact this was the thread i wanted to start posting on because of Casinotop10.net. I googled Casinotop10.net and found this thread and i thought to myself I should take the time to create an account and post on your great website ... i wanted to educate anyone else who might have googled Casinotop10.net and found the same issues that ERIC received.

Thank you for trying to set me in the right direction but considering that this was the ONLY post about Casinotop10.net...i figured i share it on the only post ....

Under the circumstances, based on your explanation, it's all cool. You're right, there are times when raising an old thread is appropriate and based on the explanation you provided in your post, this would be one of those times.

No offense meant. I hope you hang around and become a regular here.
