    Default Spam or No Spam????

Just received this email and was wondering if it is spam or not??

    Hi Ray,

I am interested in promoting the Pimp-Your-Poker affiliate program in our two large iGaming affiliate communities, www .casinoaffiliateprograms.com and www .pokeraffiliateprograms.com. We have about 11,000 registered members and affiliates.

Is there any interest on your end?

    Kind Regards,

Might be better to post up at cap and pap or do some investigating over there.

Well, I don't think that I would consider a message like this to really be spam, but it is certainly *very* deceptive.

As you might imagine, every once in a while I check on how many members CAP and PAP have because I like to understand how the GPWA is doing in the marketplace versus others.

So this post prompted me to check on where things stand as of this moment in time. As of today, the CAP member list provided by vBulletin that shows a list of member usernames says that CAP has a total of 1,524 members. PAP says a total of 3,672. So adding those together yields a total of 5,196. Of course those numbers will be inflated because they include lots of folks that are not active anymore in those forums. As one example, I am included as a member in both forums so subtract two for me. Which also points out another issue - you can't add the numbers from both forums together to get a combined member count when many folks will be independently registered on both sites.

Anyone who wants to independently verify the current number of members of these forums can do it using these links:

    CAP Member List
    PAP Member List

What I do know is that over the past quarter the GPWA has added more than 100 new members a month whereas CAP and PAP both have actually each independently removed more members than have signed up during that time period.

What I believe affiliate media is doing is using the total number of total signups ever for their two forum and that number includes folks that never confirm their signup by responding to the signup email, folks that have been banned, and folks that have been removed from the list of members.

Rather deceptive too is that on the forum index at cap, it shows this:

    Threads: 37,461, Posts: 220,078, Members: 8,827
Welcome to our newest member, xxxxx
So... where are all these members? Perhaps when members are deleted, they come off the member roll but not the index page. I looked and saw that my membership was not listed in the member files (per my request months ago).

Sarcasm? From me? Never been known.

Actually joking aside the reason I asked is apart from being an inactive member of both and a brief liason with them before PYP originally launched I have had no contact at all and to add to that the email address they contacted me at had not even been created.

LOL... The current owners of CAP and PAP showing their TRUE colors.

I don't think there has been a time when CAP/PAP were honest with anyone.
