Splash Landing Pages - Soooooo irritating

I have probably moaned about this before, but I am doing it again because I am finding more and more casinos adopting this practice and it is driving me around the bend.

Why do many Affiliate programs insist on having their tracking links leading to a landing page that has little to no info on it for a potential player? Some of them simply say " Claim Your $1000.00 Bonus Now " and that is it!!!

I want to send them to the home page which shows them everything that is available - not just a splash page.

I have no problem with the casinos that offer splash pages as an additional option to the home page - but not as the ONLY option.

Am I alone in my thoughts and should I be shifting my thinking, or do others also get frustrated?

I would be interested to know How do other Affiliates find their conversions for splash pages versus home landing pages?. I find my conversions much better to the home pages, but then again I generally won't promote a casino that only offers a splash page.

I agree with you topboss. I find it extremely annoying as well. You would think that most players want to know more about the casino than the ludicrous 100% up to R50,000 first deposit bonus.

As a SA affiliate I am mostly forced to use these crappy landing pages as the main casino page does not always geo-target their referrals and display the correct geographical information. It's not that difficult for them to do this.

Personally, I do not like any program that offers only a single option or two.

I prefer to send traffic to certain types of pages in one instance and a different type of page in most other instances - all depending upon what page I am referring traffic from.

I agree with you topboss.

The landing pages would make much more sense if they would allow visitors to easily get to the home page, the bonus terms pages or anywhere else throughout the site, but many of them are "join or else leave" and the programs are kinda stupid in not understanding how much they lose on those scenarios.

It is really short sighted when a group does not offer many choices in links, and even though I spend a great deal of time creating different campaigns for links I too prefer to send the visitors to home pages since most groups just don't get how bad their custom landing pages are at times.

I agree. Some are like the 90's pop-unders you used to see all the time - basic and basically worthless.

I too have better conversions via home page than via bonus / splash page. However, not for the same bookie, but for different bookies. I pretty much use the same landing page for a certain operator.

I`m a bit confused, however. Can`t you extract different landing page url`s from different banner codes, or can`t you contact them for a different landing page url? I never had this issue with a program not offering different landing pages.

I find this discussion very interesting because many affiliates have mentioned this to me personally, and yet media companies tend to be the complete opposite.

In saying that, we don't redirect to a splash/landing page. We have thousands of landing pages if you want the option to use one, and can have one made the way you want it pretty easily, but we also offer a link to the homepage of the full website.

I think in the end, splash landing pages are great "IF IT IS A CHOICE"

Although I am biased about this next point, I think it could easily be proven that if/when a specific landing page is offered, it absolutely has to have links so the visitor can get to the home page, the terms pages the bonus terms page etc.

If the only option is to join or leave and the visitor is not sold, guess what the casino loses out and so does the affiliate.

There are many instances where landing or splash pages can be effective such as (but not limited to)
specific games
specific time limited bonuses
specific sports games content like superbowl, world cup, certain horse race, certain slots tournament etc etc
introducing a new casino
a special cross promotion or giveaway
etc....etc...


so..... do it or else....

Yes, To be honest - Most of the casinos are happy to oblige by creating a link to the home page if you specifically request it, but I find that when I am promoting a casino I want to be able to get the link from their Aff system straight away, and not have to send them an email and wait for their reply because by then I have moved onto another casino.

Renee's brands have the right approach - i.e Offer both options within the Affiliate software.

We prefer our Generic links to all point to the home pages this works best for us in saying that we also create special lander for affiliates when we launch new games or have free spins offers to promote .. Seems some affiliates prefer these as they give the player a feel and sense of the game that the free spins will be given on. I get what your saying we tried at some point to have Landers that were very similar to the homepage look and feel and these worked nice also maybe its personal preference.
