Stan James - Closed my account

As the title says, got an email this morning saying Stan James had closed my account for "poor performance". No warning, no incentive to push them harder, and not even bad stats.

I have emailed the head of acquisitions there but got no reply so have emailed Anthony here to investigate

Been sending them about 10-20 players a month, some good months, some bad months, although I can't even log in to get any stats now so have no idea how many players they have stole off me

I have a sneaky feeling they got the arse over that massive thread about them closing other affiliates accounts

So beware people, they seem to be gunning for affiliates and are happy to shut them down without a word of warning

Awful. Sorry to hear about that.

10-20 players a month should not be classed as a poor performance in my book, especially since I'd guess they aren't likely to be sitting at position #1 on most affiliate sites.

I should also point out, in the last 6 months I've sent them 11 clicks with 0 players and my account is still active. Obviously another classic attempt from a bookie to steal players, and once this type of scenario happens a few times to different affiliates (which is the case with Stan James recently) - I totally lose trust that they don't remove losing players at will for active accounts as well or get up to other nonsense that we can't see and can't prove.

Advice to others: Bin them!

I have them on one site and am in the process of putting another together with them featured.
Time for a rethink. What chance have you got if there not happy with 10-20 signups a month.
Do they have a min quota a month? must be high if they do.
Keep us informed if they reverse their decision via the post!!!

Happened to me with BetVictor in February mate though I didn't want to kick up a fuss about it. Account just shut down without warning, I couldn't really get to the bottom of it but decided to not fight it and just get rid of them off all my sites.

It's a little worrying with Stan James as I do similar numbers to you.

Very unethical behaviour from some of these 'smaller' bookies.

Agree that if you are displaying banners and actually achieving signups that there is no way that your account should be closed for poor performance.

We don't promote Stan James - I found their conversion performance way below the level we are aiming for - but they always seemed a reasonable outfit so this is a surprise.

I wonder if they've done an "Affiliate Lounge" AND shut down an unused account that you didn't even know you had as the result of a merger of some sort. Does the message actually identify your main account as the one being closed?

Just received an email saying my account has been closed due to performance. Sent them 3 players last month. They are thieves, pure and simple. Complete waste of time promoting these jokers.

This is unethical behaviour, will gpwa get involved?

I do not understand why an affiliate program would shut it's affiliates out, there must be underlying issues at stan james.

I'm glad I have not promoted them that much. I have trickled players to them, only ever a few a month if any. Never received any commission so to cut me off when I'm basically advertising them for free is lunacy.

Also the timing seems really dumb... isn't there a rather large sporting event starting next month? Unless they think you were dropping them anyway before it starts and they wanted to cut out any potential revenue from the WC maybe.

Either way it's jacked up and the GPWA should either step in or do something about their sponsorship status - have you messaged Michael about it?

Just received my marching orders. Had my biggest month with them 2 months ago, so good timing on their behalves. GPWA accepting business from these guys would be an insult to affiliates as they would be condoning mass theft of affiliate earnings. I like to think GPWA has a bit more credibility than that.

Got my email earlier. Same reason cited as "performance" which is fine as I'm just a small affiliate in the big scheme of things but programs with these sorts of affiliate terms need to realise that EVERY big affiliate out there (which they probably love) started as a small affiliate. Be safe in the knowledge StanJames, that when I do hit the bigtime (which I will) and YOU come begging ME for valuable ad space or a referral campaign, I will be as happy to work with you then as you appear to be with me now.

One other thing. The email did state that commissions will be paid up to date of closure (I assume that's today although it is not made clear with a date on the email content). In saying that though I will just have to take their word for it how much they owe because they have suspended login to affiliate account to even check what is due. Guess I will have to "trust" their figure. tut tut

How funny that the affiliates they are cutting out are productive ones. Obviously this is a sensible business decision, and definitely not because they want to retain a 100% of residual income!
