LOL You guys are a riot! I doubt anyone wants to see He/She Man Boobs either! :evillaug:
No offense to anyone that happens to be both genders. :D
In regard to Costa Rica:
I understand that a few events went on there. One was put on by Lesnick in 2006, right after UIGEA was passed, and held in the middle of winter for only poker affiliates... and it still did ok. Promotion is be the key.
In addition to Shaun, there are also good people nearby who run Doyles Room, Chipleader, and several sportsbooks. The support would be there for sure, I think.
I have been to Costa Rica many times and it's a cheap date for sure. Flights are reasonable and hotels & food are very reasonable.
Alex, I understand you have a business to run but I don't think this would be a competitive event. It would be more for North American affiliates, and would basically be run under the original CAP Spring Break theme... not like a formal event.
I'm ready to get on a plane. 8-)
I honestly don't mind if anyone puts events on - J Todd go for it - I think it will be hard though but really do want it to work as I would love to go there -
Shaun - You should know by now I won't part with any cash - Maybe a pound or two but you aint getting anymore
Let me line some things out for Costa Rica:
Anthony and I have been considering an event in this hemisphere for some time now, and Costa Rica was on our short list of places to hold the event. We also had some ideas about how to make the event work for both affiliates and programs in this lean market.
Basically, we believe that a good event doesn't have to be made up on a huge convention hall with expensive booths run by people in suits. Most everyone who would attend this event has been in the industry for a while, and we all know that you get more accomplished networking at parties and in private meetings that you ever do standing at a booth or is a session... not that sessions are a waste, but let's pace ourselves a bit.
It would take a very minimal cost to run an "event" where we reserved some rooms for networking... near a pool perhaps... and just hang out for a couple of days. The savings afforded the affiliate programs would enable them to plan some events, dinners, and parties. Affiliates could pay their own ways or get comped... it's their business.
There's a lot to do in Costa Rica, including canopy tours, white water rafting, volcano tours, and the beach isn't too far away. It would be a hell of an event, and the programs down there already would have ZERO travel and hotel expense. We are open to additional ideas and suggestions, just step up!
Who's in?

I am in 100%, i think it coudl be an amazing event, I think a lot of people would attend, but to be honest it would be best to run the event next year now as we will be comming into wet season and I dontthink anybody wants to be in Costa Rica when it is raining for 12 hours a day....
Shaun
Well heck, now how am I gonna get down there! :joy:
we would 100% be in / sponsor / help in anyway you can.
Not just for CR ops, but is a good place for north /central /south americans to get together.
It's really awesome to join the convention but I'm half planet away from the location. Who could possibly lend me a two way ticket just to attend that fun convention?
