    Angry Stuck with little/no traffic

    Hey everyone!

First, let me introduce myself. Last year I opened a new gambling affiliate website for Dutch people: Top Online Casino Nederland
I have experience with CPA marketing so that is pretty useful. The website is now up for around 6 months and is getting little to no traffic. Trust me, I know this isn't a big surprise looking at all other gambling affiliate portal websites. But for some reason, I just don't know what to do or how to expand which really is bothering me. I currently have a few affiliate sign ups that make me a good extra salary each month but I really want to expand.
I have only a very little understanding on backlinks and how to obtain them, for now I just purchase random Fiverr gigs for backlinks, probably not the smartest but I'm not sure how to go about it.

Any tips are very welcome, rather want a conversation? Feel free to send me a prive message!

    Hi, and welcome.

Well your right about one thing, buying links on Fiverr is not the smartest move. They will be low quality, unrelated junk that will do your website more harm than good. Had a quick look at your site and your doing nothing that a thousand other gambling portals are not doing already. Your reviews look very short, they need to be 1000+ words with a few optimized images.

Also your going to have to come up with either outstanding unique content and or buy dozens of backlinks, and while that is against Google's webmaster guidelines. It is the only way to rank, just look at all the top results for competitive keywords and their backlink profiles. Your could probably rank for long tail keywords with some really good content. But looking at the anchor text on the backlinks you already have, your never going to rank for 'Online Casino' in a month of Sundays.

Work on improving your existing content first, on-page seo and then your going to need to develop a backlink strategy going forwards. Also your website is only 5 months old, your going to need to be a lot more patient. With the above in place, it can takes months before you see any positive movement in Google results.

Patience my friend. Work hard and with dedication. Both on content and off-page SEO. Give it 1-2 years!
Impressive that you have got a couple of sign-ups already. Great job! Just keep grindin'.

Time and a more focused ranking strategy. If you want your site to get organic traffic to strong keywords like that you would need to be doing a lot of solid content, unique as possible. Even then you are looking at years rather than months. Supporting this with quality links is going to help but only if you carry on creating good content to link to.

Most give up at this stage because it's a hell of a hill to climb but if you stick at it and keep building on the quality you will get there. See what your competitors are doing in terms of content and links. As casinoportal says try and rank for some longer tail stuff for the medium term and aim for the bigger keywords longer term.

No offence, but your site looks like probably 50 thousand of those others (a list of casinos with the "play buttons" and a chunk of some text below which will never get read).

Also, I would get rid of through G disavow tool backlinks which you probably bought. Especially the one which comes from a Russian pharmacy.

Try to find a good content writer, for example, who knows in-depth - how to play roulette/blackjack/dice/baccarat (well, and slots...lol) and ask him to write a killer article/guide 5-10K words long with images, gifs, tables, bullet lists, number lists plus links to authoritative websites that explain something better etc. No worry about linking to your competitors! Just make sure their content is spot-on; don't just link blindly!

Get a few similar articles done on different subjects and then try to get a few good quality backlinks. The best option, in this case, would be to find somebody that can add some 300-500 words to his homepage and insert your link in there.

    Good luck!

as others mentioned, try to focus on your website first: creating good valuable content, but also tweak some design things. For example, on ipad things dont work fully here like the top text on the frontpage.

dont look at backlinks and other seo buying stuff, make your website perfect first. time is not an issue, new sites can rank super fast as well, as long as the quality is good. especially if you add new pages every week or so (with good content offcourse).

probably best idea is to look at the site through the eyes of a visitor, so what would you want to see if you would visit a site like yours and things like that. so do not focus on the earning money part. your first goal should be to create interest among your visitors and keeping them on your site... once you have done that, affiliate signups will follow automatically.

also: you probably know, but just in case you dont: it is not legal to promote casinos in the netherlands at the moment, you can get huge fines if you get caught. you are now promoting illegal casinos. FYI: online gambling will becomes legal around october this year.

Just wait a bit. 6 month is not that reasonable age for a website in this niche.

I totally agree with artrust. It's only a little time.
Keep working on it, build backlinks, write content and it will generate more traffic.
The niche is too competitive and the Google will launch a new update soon. So everything could change.

Most things were well summarized above, so pretty much just improve content, work on getting backlinks (there are lots of opportunities here) and give it more time.

Just out of curiosity, what are you referring to as little to no traffic? On another thread somebody was complaining about too few visitors, while having 300+ clicks from Google daily, so just wondering what's the situation you have. I really started getting "ok" traffic after about 11-12 months (I hand a brand new domain).

And change the way you see your situation. You are not stuck (if it was after 2 years then yes but not after 6 months). You are in process.

+1 for that info, it's all 100% valid and spot on. I'll go so far as saying, it's 'Sage' advice.

And, I agree, it's just another WP cookie cutter site. Nothing is original. Nothing stands out. Give players unique info that 100% quality driven, and you'll succeed. Feed them this Cookie Cutter Cr#p, and you'll end up throwing in the towel.

Only getting one click a day currently so it's really bad.

Thanks everyone for the replies, really useful information!
Guess I have to focus more on content instead of SEO.

Actually both...but by focusing on content you're doing it naturally to get a firm base.

Think of it like this (at high level)....

On page (visual) SEO .....your content, your page structure, H1's H2's H3's etc it's usability
On page (non visual) SEO ....title, description, speed etc
    Off page SEO....links, citations etc

For links...think...."is my content good enough that I - or another webmaster - would link to?"... and if the answer is a comfortable/honest yes then go get some...but carefully and of course avoid anything daft....but still focus on your overall content first

Dear friend, just like you, I started working on the site not long ago, namely 3 months ago. And just like you, I use a ready-made theme, the same as you. And I understand you very well when I see that there is no traffic, but I worked with casino hex and saw how they grew - patience, although I understand you perfectly and know how much it is lacking.

You also need to write more description. Our theme allows you to do this. You can see it on my website https://guruslots.com/ for e

I am also impressed by the number of casinos you have on your site - I can still make one a day. An example of such a description https://guruslots.com/casino/bitstarz-casino/

You also did the right thing by setting up FAQ. Which plugin did you use? I would be happy to discuss in personal messages our swami website design and share my experience and ask questions.

Stumbled upon this thread while looking for something else and remembered replying here earlier. Just wondering, did you utilize any advise you got here and did your traffic numbers improve since then?

I see a lot you are doing very wrong.
First thing: you're not focussing on content, the content that is on your site is to minimal and I could probably write it in a day.
Second thing: you're not focussing on conversion. A few buttons here and there doesn't do the trick. Your visitors need to be grabbed and converted to click the buttons.
Third thing: offering off-content stuff on a casino site. Who wants to read how to make money as affiliate on a domain thats called toponlinecasino?

    Lots and lots to learn.

The OP hasn't logged in for 6 weeks. And, given he acted on none of the advice give, I think it's fair to say, he's given up trying. This is why I hardly ever bother giving help to newbies, these days. 9 x out of 10 it's a huge waste of time.

Seems they realise being igaming affiliate is NOT the cash-cow they thought it was.

It actually takes a LOT of hard work, commitment, and accepting one may not make much, if any income, for 8 - 12 months.
