Default Study: NJ online gaming revenue to increase, but poker will decline

According to research firm Eilers and Krejcik Gaming, New Jersey can expect an increase in online gaming revenues of 17 percent in 2017, according to a report issued this week by gaming industry analysts. But the increase would come in spite of an estimated 6% decline in online poker revenue, which has lagged behind other online casino games such as slots since online gaming was legalized in the state in November 2013.

"The big winners in New Jersey's online gambling markets are familiar names, with land-based brands like the Golden Nugget, Borgata, Tropicana and Resorts leading the way," said report authors Adam Krejcik and Chris Grove of the independent research firm Eilers and Krejcik Gaming."Increased integration between the online and live casino appears to be driving additional play and visitation at land-based properties."

While Grove and Krejcik say that revenue "may have hit a wall," they add that there are reasons for optimism that New York and Pennsylvania could legalize online gaming this year — a move that "could spark the long-awaited domino effect on the Eastern Seaboard."

I would love to see what revenue they made and what it was used on .. Education , New Roads etc as this would be a good case study for other States that are close to regulating to use as an eye opener that Gaming Revenue can be used to aid a Sates overall well being not to mention the extra Joy it brings to the players involved lol

It doesn't mean that poker is on the decline for long term, it's just other gaming products are being added every month

I have a lot of my gaming domains parked and looking at my stats just now, it's interesting that NewJerseySportsBetting.com was fifth for "most visits" last month and is currently at fifth for this month too. Personally I'm rather optimistic sports betting in this country will undergo "correction" eventually but this is slightly surprising.
