Arrow Suggestion: Time limit for editing post

    Hello,

on a particular occasion i would make the following suggestion:

For editing posts a time limit should be installed.

I don't know, what is the best limit, but, in my opinion, 6 or 8 hours are enough to fix spelling errors or something like that.

One should stand for what she/he is writing.

Another reason: It should not be possible for undetected spammers to edit their posts later and placing links into it. A very popular tactic.

Admin/Mods should have unlimited edit privileges, that's clear.

Actually, on the spam issue....a member that is in the new member group will trigger a filter if they place links in a post and posts are immediately placed into moderation.

We have seen times when this does not always trigger the filter, but it usually works.

And we know not always ideal, but when it is link selling, link buying or exchanges, we usually approve them.

As far as the undetected spammers, you might be surprised how often we make a gentleman's bet (we would NEVER bet money on it) on whether a newbie will be banned and what day it will happen....LOL

Trouble is, Anthony hardly ever bets against me anymore....lol

But, like I have said before, we usually let em go ahead and hang themselves and then ban em.

There are actually logical reasons for this too:
#1) It gives us the url (we also try to keep these in mind when reviewing applications)(if we miss it tell us)
#2) We then can cross reference urls and IP's
#3) We can then often cross reference their accounts with others

    Very good!

Finally, i can take my annual ration of hard cider.
    Two fingers.

Well, in the immediate vicinity the clocks and rations of alcohol tick differently:

    My neighbor at sunrise:
    His daughter after leaving school:

And my postman with his brother at high noon:

That is the first time I have ever agreed (or understood) something you have said.

Regarding the agree, I have no problem with it. Would be boring if everyone has the same opinion.
    With the understanding...
Well, I can only tell you that (to me anyway) homemade schnapps served by a pleasantly scented robot from Japan and honey cake can work wonders.

Leopold you are a joke. You are trying to make look like a jerk but you are failing miserably. I edited one post, after I tried to extend a hand of friendship and you turned around and accused me of being two faced, so live with it.

In answer to the original question/suggestion regarding having a time limit for editing posts, we have had a time limit in place of seven days. After that time a change can only be made through a request to a moderator.

Based on your request, I have had a discussion with Anthony about reducing the length of the time limit. We have made a decision to reduce the time limit to 36 hours. We decided that was long enough for someone to re-read their post the following day, and make any appropriate corrections, so there was limited value to having a limit longer than that length.

While it will not eliminate editing posts in response to subsequent posts entirely, we also do want people to be able to reconsider what they have said, and make edits when there posts have been less civil than they feel is appropriate in retrospect, for some reasonable period of time as well.

Yep, 36 hours is somewhat reasonable, it will nail a few people traveling occassionally, but probably not often.

Can we remove it on one specific thread? If not 36 hours aint gonna cut it, sometimes programs can't get affiliates approved in that time frame, THAT is one of the reasons why the 7 days have stood for a LONG time.
