Default Is Summer your Least Profitable Season?

    Hi everyone,

With the warm weather finally here, many people (including me!) spend a lot less time on their computer. I wanted to get your take on how this affects your income, if at all.

If you have any interesting idea, please share them in the comments

    Thanks!

Last year was great due to the World Cup.. this year is Normal.. No Football, American or Soccer.. No Basketball, no college games, no NHL my best earners.. We have baseball but it's mainly money line.. nothing like good ol point spread betting to increase revenu + Advertisers are all booking for start of NFL Preaseason, So I have spent this quiet time setting up Casino and Poker pages to cover me in slow periods

There's Copa America 2015, Wimbledon is also in progress. When it comes to 'sports' it's alive, active and kicking.

The NH Summer does not seem to negatively affect our earnings. Casino is a regular earner, poker seems to rise with WSOP, and even sports does OK.

As Xecutable has said there is plenty of global sports action taking place if you step outside the United States.

We had the U20 World Cup football on down here, and Canada had the Womens World Cup football ... The Champions League and Europa LEague qualifiers have just started up again, and Wimbledon tennis and Tour de France going on.

Actually, the question was do you work less now when it's more tempting to be outside. And whether that affects your income or not.

I don't think I could link the two. No matter what I do I can't make a lot of money during the summer anyway. So I relax a bit and focus on long-term plans as opposed to daily chores.

But no, I'm not working less because of the weather and my income is not affected by that. It's affected by other people not being at their PCs at all.

For me I don't experience any drop in traffic since a lot of it comes from mobile, which have increased steadily for awhile now.

I've always seen less revenues over the northern hemisphere summers. Not massive amounts but a general decrease with winter generally being better.

As a UK-based, mainly UK-targeting, mainly sports affiliate I have noticed a big drop, probably running at about 50% activity levels and revenues. Last summer was decent obviously with the World Cup. Next summer we've got the Euros which should be great with hopefully a few home nations involved.

I'm not in business for a very long time, but I notice traffic is decreasing when the weather is nice. So on, revenue. A fanatic gambler will also gamble when it's 40 degrees, but I guess there will be less opportunity gamblers...

April through August is the busiest time of year for us in terms of traffic and sign-ups as that period contains the 4 Majors in golf. Doesn't necessarily translate to profit though which can vary massively from month-to-month - in fact in months where the FTD numbers are high then our income is usually lower, presumably impacted by bonuses.

For all but two brands - Summer is our busiest time of year ("Christmas season" being a close second) in terms of reported player activity.

The number of online players on poker sites always dips in summer when there's good weather, although sign ups probably get a nice boost from WSOP and the extra online coverage on social media.

Women's World Cup, U20 World Cup, Copa America...nothing compares to Premier League/Champions League/men's World Cup/Euros.

Ha, good point! I guess I'm writing from Canada so the weather finally being nice is what influenced my question. Everyone can answer based on when their summer is or even better, when their traffic's summer is!

It's really interesting to see all the varying responses from everyone. I would have thought that the results would be more uniform across the board.

For sportsbooks, there are definitely some cool events going on. However, I would imagine that the lack of huge events this summer is a bit of a bummer. Yes, there are events like the Women's World Cup, but I don't think, overall, this would necessarily have the same impact as a bigger event, like the Male World Cup. I guess an important aspect for affiliate sites is to get readers excited about these smaller events. A cool article or promotion can likely get more people participating.

Yes, November and December are the best. But the summers for me are not really bad and I have only sports traffic. The turnover goes down a bit, the numbers of players go down drastically, but revenues are higher than some months during season.

I think part of the reason is that there are much less registrations, new real depositors and much less bonuses that drag down the revenue.
Second reason can be that the few lucky winners, who became whales during season, are finally going to enjoy their short life as "professional bettor" and after they bet XX and XXX and got some wins from variance, they bet XXXX and go broke.
At least at recreational bookies this "seasonal lag" is very significant it seems.
