Default Survey: 95% of Swedes do not know how to check if gaming site is licensed or not

A study commissioned by Swedish regulator Spelinspektionen found that 95% of respondents did not know how to check if an operator had a licence to operate in Sweden, with just 2% saying they would look on an operator’s website to determine if it was licensed. In addition, 67% could not list an advantage of playing with licensed operators.

The annual survey asked 1,737 Swedes – 1,139 of whom were gamblers – a number of questions about their gambling habits.

    Other key findings:

66 percent have gambled for money in the last 12 months. This is an increase of 6 percentage points compared to last year.

30 percent of those who played in the past year play every week.

71 percent of everyone who has played on the internet in the past year knows Spelpaus.se, the Swedish Gaming Inspectorate's national self-exclusion register. Last year, the figure was 54 percent, an increase of 17 percentage points.

55 percent of everyone who plays on the internet plays mainly on Svenska Spel and 23 percent on ATG.

32 percent played lotteries online, while 20 percent bet on horse racing, 17 percent bet on online sports, 7 percent played online casino games, 6 percent bingo and 5 percent poker.
