Swedish Thief
Hello to all thief hunters,
:pissed::pissed::pissed::pissed:
I have very high suspicion that there is a thief from Sweden who is stealing my content. This is based on log analysis and I am 99% sure.
I am almost sure he has or intends to translate some of my content in Swedish.
I am not very hopeful but is there a way to check that?
Of course I could babel some page and check on google.se, etc. But did anyone face such situation and how do you handle it?

Try www.copyscape.com , it checks the URL you give against google cached pages.
You have 5 free searches per month for each domain.
If you sign-up for a premium account, each search will cost $0.05.
Give a look to those scripts: https://www.gpwa.org/forum/script-ch...pe-178188.html
-
Do you mean that copyscape can find duplicate translated content?:google:
-
Oh sorry I didn't read well...
Anyway, I guess he's using some kind of automated translation, like google translate or yahoo babelfish...
Try translating with google or yahoo the pages you suspect, and look for duplicate content...
-
he is not using any automated translation, he is Swedish and fluent in English like most of us.
this is the problem will all the natives with different tongues who can steal copyright by translating and posting all good English poker content articles as they wish.
-
I think that you are right - there will be no automated way to catch a translated copy.
Given that translation must be a subjective thing, depending on your skill levels at both languages there must be a thousand way to translate 3-4 paragraphs of content.
-
Exactly,
This is why it is a gold mine for foreigners to steal all the English content and stay unpunished.
-
I agree that the translators are not held to the same copyright laws.
A side-story. I found my entire site including templates was translated into Greek with about 10% in English.
Of course, your first reaction is that big G will penalize for duplicate content.
So, I check out the whois with my standard copyright violation email ready to send and guess who owns the IP address---the big G!
I found out that Google translates some sites and sets them up on their servers.
I don't know--is this a compliment?
At least, I shouldn't be penalized, yes?
-
It would be interesting to find out why/how G did/do that.
Note that all tongues are not equal. Sweden is a big poker market for instance, but not Greece.
-
Where is the thief's link?

I never did find an answer about G. I was just told by an SEO expert that they often translate if they consider it an authority site?
For those with GWebmaster accounts, if you go to Sitelinks, you will find this statement:
"Sitelinks are additional links G sometimes generates from site contents in order to help users navigate your site. Google generates these sitelinks periodically from your site's contents."
G has chosen 6 of my main pages and they all have PR, perhaps they consider it an additional service to translate?
Altho, I have read that translation is not always a good thing, especially with gambling content because it can 'lose something in the translation' and not be considered expert advice.
As for Greek gamblers, they may not be as numerous as the Swedes, however, they do like the excitement when they are not rioting!
-
No offense for Greece by the way,
I love Greek architecture, Greek food and Greek philosophy.
Homer is my favorite story teller, Ulysses is my favorite hero and Leonidas my favorite king.
----------------
I know from the logs+other sources that he is probably a thief.
I have no idea his website; I think anyway he stole ideas and reused them partially, so it would be hard to prove.
-
Lets Get that Bi***
i think i know how we can get him
the next time you post a new content try naming it a unique name or write inside the content something like a name that will not need translation
(like babalou "Poker" Johnson or whatever)
then try searching it on Google.
if he is stealing your content that certain name or phrase will pop up on Google.
-
Yes,
He visited me twice, 3 weeks apart.
I banned his IP, he came back with a slightly different dynamic IP, now I banned a range of IP.
Hopefully I will not have the entire Sweden.
-
Blocking the binary equivalent of the IP could be useful as well.
