Question Are there any links to your site(s) in Wikipedia?

High-ranking links to sites help in terms of ranking in search results, and one high-visibility site is Wikipedia.

How many links are there from Wikipedia to sites of yours? Besides voting the the poll, share with us whether the links were added by third-parties, or whether you added them. And if you have added links yourself, share whether links you have added have been left to stay, or whether they have been deleted with others.

Of course, if you have specific link-building strategies, be sure to share them, whether or not adding links in Wikipedia is part of your link-building strategy.

It's very difficult to get a gambling related website link into Wikipedia. Well, I take that back. It's easy to insert it. It's very difficult to get it to stick! Not only do the page owners / admins remove links to affiliate websites, but if you happen to sneak one past them, even if it serves a legitimate purpose and helps the article mind you, you still might have it removed.

BY A JEALOUS COMPETITOR! Of course you can add the link back in, but they can remove it again. Ultimately, an admin will be called and they will almost certainly nuke your link and possibly ban your account! Your URL can also be site-wide banned for spamming on Wikipedia if you **** off the wrong admin. So be careful if you go trying to get wikipedia links.

There are link building services that offer Wikipedia links but they can't guarantee a permanent listing.. hahaha.. like I'm going to pay $$$$ with the hope that my listing won't be removed.

I've had a couple over the years*, got some traffic out of it but the real interesting point is that other sites then use the wiki references on their own sites (ie: lazy research), so you can get secondary links out of it.

Had a naturally placed roulette link live for 2/3 years, got edited out a few years back though.

    * all natural, we didn't place them ourselves.

I was never able to get a DMOZ link. I'd still like one. Never could figure out who these mysterious gatekeepers were

**EDIT: I just found this thread that DMOZ is closed! https://www.gpwa.org/forum/dmoz-org-...highlight=dmoz

I just checked the pages listed in your signature. It's very unlikely that links to your website would be accepted on Wikipedia. Pretty much any editor loading up your sites will immediately mark links to your site as spam. I don't say this to be mean, just my honest evaluation. Your sites are very clearly affiliate sites and thus, in wiki editor thought process, untrustworthy and biased.

I don't know why, because I don't peg you as the sarcastic type, but I fell like you forgot a /s on your post...?

I see the first site to get a link from on this page is HuffPo for a grand. I talked to someone on another forum about a HuffPo link. This is a guy who is some type of contributor/minor editor there. He sells links to HuffPo on the downlow. He explicitly said he could get anything reasonable in sans gambling and drug sites so even if you're being serious, I don't think that site would be able to pull off gambling affiliate link insertions at major publications

This subject interested me because I worked formerly as volunteer editor on the French language Wikipedia.

    1) We must not forget that all external links on Wikipedia are "Nofollow". So they have no direct impact on the SEO.

    2) Obviously these links can bring traffic. But they bring little. And usually these are more "intellectuals" seeking to understand something about gambling rather than gamblers.

    3) The main use of a Wikipedia link is that other webmasters can follow Wikipedia's example and link to our site. But this rarely happens!

    4) The probability that an affiliate gambling site can have links on Wikipedia is so low that in my opinion it is a waste of time to try.

I do not understand the OP question with regard to SEO as Wikipedia links are Nofollow and yes I have 1 site listed and it has not made any difference at all.

There are plenty of people who feel that Wikipedia links do have the ability to pass juice despite their no-follow tag. I'd be more than happy to have more wikipedia links if I could get them. But as we've all said, it's incredibly difficult for an affiliate website to get links on Wikipedia.
