This subject interested me because I worked formerly as volunteer editor on the French language Wikipedia.
1) We must not forget that all external links on Wikipedia are "Nofollow". So they have no direct impact on the SEO.
2) Obviously these links can bring traffic. But they bring little. And usually these are more "intellectuals" seeking to understand something about gambling rather than gamblers.
3) The main use of a Wikipedia link is that other webmasters can follow Wikipedia's example and link to our site. But this rarely happens!
4) The probability that an affiliate gambling site can have links on Wikipedia is so low that in my opinion it is a waste of time to try.
