Thoughts...
Hi,
I've recently started helping out a friend with a couple of sports tipping sites (they are listed in my signature). He want's them to be able to have some affiliate advertising but they we're initially rejected, so I was wondering what SEO work could be done to improve the sites stats in that way. Could you briefly tell me what is missing, perhaps some obvious stuff to just get it recognised and so forth.
Of course traffic will be the big thing that gets these sites worthy of affiliate ads, but what else could be done?
All thoughts would be greatly appreciated :)

Neither load for me .
Try a different affiliate ! Seems strange they would deny you !

Second person to say that today, maybes that's why they were rejected. They work fine on my end so not too sure what that might be :( They are very new like and so far little traffic, even though my mate has been building up twitter interest, but these sites are somewhat a 'dime a dozen'. Still I would expect traffic to improve, but I thought perhaps a bit of search engine presence plus a bit of PR will improve chance of affiliate advertising.
It was Bet365 that turned me down BTW.

the horse betting site is worked for me .I personally do not think showing your twitter posts and the results ( by horse name) of each race would help with SEO .Maybe add in a few Articles ? remember many say content is king

well with regards to keywords, that isn't a major thing, I'm not looking have the site rank high particularly it's more about bringing in natural traffic which is why twitter is the main source for this. I'd be happy to bump up the PR but what else could I be doing other than links for this? Perhaps some onsite stuff?

well i kind of need the format as it is at the moment because the primary purpose it to offer gambling advice as you can tell, would the odd 500 word article each week help? at least in the long run?

Sounds good, I'll give that a bash! With the upcoming football season and the likes I think I'll start adding a heavy article highlighting tips and then some analysis and such which should help with content. Any other obvious things I could be doing that I may have overlooked?

I'm wondering if the URL of your football betting site may put some companies off advertising on the site...

You know, I said that to my colleague whose sites they are, but was hoping that wouldn't be an issue. It's basically a gimmick rather than anything offensive, but I know what you mean. Would it put you off?

Different companies have different branding guidelines, and there may be other guidelines they have for affiliates anyway that have caused them to reject your site. Definitely see if you can get some exact reasons from them!
It wouldn't put me off, but I think companies with a super professional image may want to steer clear of calling potential customers "douche bags"

Lol I see what you mean. Yeah I'm still waiting for further feedback so hopefully that isn't one of the reasons ;p
