Question Top GPWA Posters of All Time and Much More!

Last week, after I announced the GPWA had passed the 300,000 posts and 10,000 members mark in the thread GPWA Passes 300,000 Posts and 10,000 Members!, Renee said she would be curious to know who were the top posters ever. I agreed to do that in an announcement this week, and more, so here goes.

There are 36 individuals who have made over 2,000 posts in the GPWA forums, and I'd like to begin this announcement by acknowledging their contributions and listing their member names. I've separated the list into two parts. The first list includes the 27 members who are all-time top posters that have made posts in the past year.

    Drumroll please!

    universal4 - 10,808 posts
    GPWA Nancy - 6,133 posts
    chalkoutline - 5,078 posts
    DVS007 - 4,613 posts
    Dominique - 4,490 posts
    techwoman - 4,276 posts
    Amateur - 3,549 posts
    bigbcasinos - 3,399 posts
    mojo - 3,388 posts
    CityGuard - 3,216 posts
    Doolally - 3,155 posts
    jarvi - 2,743 posts
    FictionNet - 2,713 posts
    pgaming (formerly greek39) - 2,583 posts
    matted - 2,508 posts
    Renee - 2,506 posts
    Pam712 - 2,407 posts
    nascar1 - 2,364 posts
    Professor - 2,277 posts
    aksana - 2,250 posts
    Chips - 2,228 posts
    AmCan - 2,213 posts
    TheCPA - 2,199 posts
    Captain - 2,114 posts
    thepokerkeep - 2,062 posts
    MichaelCorfman - 2,060 posts
    Paolino - 2,047 posts

A huge round of applause and thanks to everyone on this list for your contributions to the forums over the years and especially for your continued loyalty and contributions this past year.

Bringing the total to 36 are the accounts of 9 additional members that have not participated by posting in the forums in the past year. First on this list is Cindy, the all-time high poster, who was the original founder of the GPWA and next is John who went by the name CasinoGlen in the forum and, who together with his wife Marlene, was the second owner of the GPWA. Thanks and a toast to each of you for helping to lay the foundation upon which the GPWA has grown.

    SlyCin56 - 21,737
    casinoglen - 3,688
    kidd75219 - 3,268
    croupier - 3,072
    Oneguy2nv - 2,850
    modtester - 2,297
    WildBill - 2,217
    diceman - 2,206
    LadyV - 2,015

I promised Renee I would also try to throw in some other topics to make this announcement more interesting, suggesting I might provide a list of the biggest windbags. We have statistics about the average length of posts, so I thought that would make for some good fun. Little did I know where this topic would take me when the idea first crossed my mind.

If I look at the top posters over all time (those members with more than 200 posts) it ends up I am the biggest windbag of all with an average post length of 1,223 characters. The second biggest windbag among the top posters of all time is CityGuard with an average post length of 1,056 characters. Since CityGuard is my son, Steven, this just goes to help confirm the saying "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree."

If we go a little further down the list, GaryTheScubaGuy clocks in with 161 posts and an even higher average post length of 2,101 characters with his long SEO tutorials. Going all the way to the end of the list, the record is an average of 9,618 characters per post for GPWA editorial team member Digo. The ten posts he made were all interviews the GPWA did with affiliates. And I think we all know that when you put the GPWA editorial team together with affiliates in an interview situation the result is some interesting reading, and more than just a paragraph or two of it.

On the other end of the spectrum are those with very short post lengths. Especially noteworthy is the GPWA’s Anthony, belovedly known in these here parts as Sheriff “Quickfire” Anthony. His average post over the past year was only 158 characters in length. He did make a large number of posts in the past year, in fact he was the number four poster in the last twelve months, but his posts were fired off very quickly and were straight to the point. Exactly the sort of behavior you would expect from the local sheriff.

I decided as part of this announcement I should also take a more in-depth look at posts made over the past year. For the twelve month period from 22 June 2009 through 21 June 2010 there were 53,928 posts made on the GPWA website and the average post was 584 characters in length. The median number of posts by members that posted in the last year was five, underscoring the fact that participation in the forums follows a classic "long tail" pattern that is heavily centered on reading posts rather than writing posts for the vast majority of our members. Only a tiny fraction of our members, 513 in total, made ten or more posts. And the even more rarified atmosphere of members making 100 or more posts in the past year was limited to 99 members.

In the interest of recognizing everyone who made 100 or more posts in the last year (and also in the interest of trying to increase even further the average length of my posts) below is a summary of the posting activity by the top 99 GPWA posters over the past year. Let's have a big round of applause!

Thank you and congratulations to everyone for a job well done! And especially to our number one affiliate poster universal4 and our number one affiliate manager poster Renee.

Your contributions, whether they are so many you are included on one of the lists above, or just a few posts here and there, like the vast majority of our members, help make the GPWA what it is today.

Drumroll for Michael for creating this stats

I was just wondering whether I should now try to improve my meagre 262 characters average by starting every post with some nasty jokes copied from somewhere. But then Nancy may revoke my private membership due to serious copyright infringement.

LOL! Quote all your website content before posting, that will bring up character average AND she can't blame you for copying anyone

LOL - You need to get up at 4am and answer the posts before Rick crawls out of bed. That's what I do. I take it one step further though, I actually try to think what Rick would say, then I say it first....

Then I cruise the forums looking for spam posts and report them all, even some that aren't, just to keep him busy.

Damn Michael, ya'll got too much time on your hands. Reckon that is what CEO's do then?

Very interesting analysis though. Thanks for the mention and kudos too! No surprise Rick topped the list, he may not have the longest posts but still qualifies as a windbag with the volume of posts.

Really neat to see the numbers crunched. Now get back to work!

    Woohoo! Second on the list.

I haven't been online as much as I obviously have in the past but have been super busy with some other projects recently. I'll be back online a little more from now on.

Congratulations to all on the lists, it has been great chatting with you all!
