    Default Traffic Boyz endorsement?

    Hi Paul,

You may want to take a look at this thread over at AGD. TrafficBoyz is spamming affiliates and have been de-listed by at least one of the companies they represent.

These guys are claiming they are GAU endorsed.

I do see they are on the GAU white list.... you may want to remove them ASAP.

I was alerted to this episode this morning by Jason from traffic boys who explained to me what had happened.

Presently i have no reason to remove them from the white list. The white list is designed to give us an agreement with the program and allow us to work with them should there be any issues at any time. It is clear on the white list that it is not an endorsement thus better left in place for the benefits gained by white listing.

I spoke at length with Jason on the phone regarding the spam episode this morning as i said and also regarding his poorly thought out post at AGD a few days earlier. I do think the post at AGD was wrong, however, i also know that Jason is trying his hardest to fit within all of the major organisations by becoming sponsors, certified and other things.

He is enthusiastic and as far as i can make out a genuine guy. He is mortified by the events of the last few days and certainly did not go out of his way to upset anyone. What has been said about the spam episode over at AGD is not quite fair to him from what he has told me, however, he does not wish to post there any more to further inflame the situation. People are bringing up other spam episodes that he has no party to.

The email was maybe worded poorly, however, he did not purchase emails, steal them or hack any sites to get them. All the emails he sent out were to people he has personally done business with in the past. I cannot personally agree that this can then be called spam in the real meaning of the word. It is in my mind from the facts that i have been offered not all that bad an episode.

Forgive me personally for being easy going about spam maybe, however, where do we draw the line? Is it ok for an affiliate manager to send me an email asking if i will consider promoting them? For me, yes it is, they are only doing a job. If they continue to pester then that is a different matter. Perhaps i am just too nice a guy, i do not know.

Anyway, should any GAU member, or any one for that matter wish me to discuss or even demand anything from these people, please let me know. That is what the GAU is for and the white list means that they have to respond.

Hope that my explanation is clear enough and that people can see why we have this stance.

Can you quantify for me please Rick.

All from traffic boyz? Or just spam in general.

    Have traffic boyz bombarded you?

They are actually endorsed, when they were developing their program we were involved in the writing of their terms and had then implement certain things.

Their terms meet the GAU requirements presently.

Again, should there be any member with an issue with this, or able to offer a reason why they should not be endorsed, please feel free to speak out.

Rick his name is Jason Marsh, he has told me that the "list" is previous contacts that he has had personally over the years.

He also tells me that he has had over 25 responses asking for further info.

I really do feel that this is just a one of mail to his own contacts.

I received an email and the name doesn't ring a bell with me as someone I have previously worked with. If he knows me personally then perhaps a personal email might have been more appropriate than a "Dear Webmaster" one.

I will also vouch for Jason as being a decent guy as I've known him for quite some time and was surprised by the recent events.

He definately made a few mistakes, but hopefully he will learn from them and do better in the future so kudos to you Paul for giving the guy a break.

I believe that is quite a statement to say that you feel AGD is wrong, Chalkie.

I have never worked with these folks before. The emails I, personally, received were sent to stolen and harvested email addresses. One of the email addresses was from a Platinum Play casino account. This email address was unique to that casino and was stolen approximately 2 years ago. The other emails appear to be harvested from my whois information. This is the same type of information we received from others who were sent emails. I received 5 emails total to 5 separate email accounts.

Andy I never said AGD was wrong at all!

If you are referring to my statement:

I do think the post at AGD was wrong, however, i also know that Jason is trying his hardest to fit within all of the major organisations by becoming sponsors, certified and other things.
Read it again, i was saying i think JASON was wrong. The post he made in the beginning.

Regarding the spam, well, he says that he has dealt with all the people he emailed. I cannot prove or disprove that and to be honest, i hold spam very low on my list of problems to deal with so will be keeping out of the spam debate.

I too have known Jason online for a while and he strikes me as a decent guy. Does he make the occasional mistake ? He's human isn't he ? I know I've made my fair share and will probably make many more in this life.

I've found in the past that he will go out of his way to straighten out problems if it's brought to his attention.

(Just stating my opinion of him)

I had to issue an infraction to trafficboyz on CAP recently because they posted an ad in the middle of an unrelated thread, apologized when I pointed it out, and then went ahead and did the same in another, totally unrelated thread.

Perhaps it's just ignorance of how message boards work, but posts have to have something to do with the thread topic.

If they had found a thread where they could give useful input on the topic, it wouldn't have been an issue.

I was just looking over the GAU website and noticed there is no listing of endorsed programs. Nor did I see an announcement posted re; TrafficBoyz becoming an endorsed program.

How many programs have been endorsed by GAU to date?

Why is there no list of endorsed programs? Or is the list there somewhere and I'm missing it?

There is no other endorsed at present Terry, cannot find any programs with 100% fair terms and conditions.

You are correct, there is no sign of a post regarding an endorsement.

This is either my mistake or it went amiss when i moved all my sites from one server to another last week and the week before.

I shall look in to this and correct it.

Thanks for bringing it up M8 and sorry if it caused confusion.

Needed 3 pairs of hands the last 2 weeks.

I've received 2 emails, on separate addresses and don't recall ever working with him (jason m). I find it inappropriate to send out a solicitation to someone "Because they had previously worked together", without actually providing one's name.

He sure seems to be doing everything exactly wrong so far. i fear you're trusting him too much chalkie.
