We've been twittering as alllotto_com mainly automated posts of jackpots and results, some human tweets. my two favorite tools are hootsuite.com (more people seem to use tweetdeck) and monitter.com

oh, agree with Renee, ShitMyDadSays is hilarious. me and my buddy debate whether its real or just a writer. He's gone from about 700,000 followers to 930,000 in the last 5 or 6 weeks. Real followers (the guy follows 1 person back), not "followbacks" or tool enhanced follows and unfollows.

i also have many twitter accounts. the trick is to get many followers (obvious) and to put rss posts on the twitter. you can take it from your sites or you can take it from another good site like poker news or something. once a day you post there affiliate link with a good catch phrase like: Titan poker is celebrating Christmas with open tournaments for everyone. HoHoHo and etc'.
this is just the small stuff you do there. the trick is how to get your followers automatically.

I too, find Twitter to be mostly non-sensical babble. Those who use is for affiliate marketing use it mostly as direct contact advertising, which to me, seems quite intrusive. Since Google is looking to post these "tweets" in a real-time fashion, look for Twitter to be fully exploited by spammers, and for any method of advertising used by this media to be kabashed in due time.

Yes, I have Twitter, but I use it to promote my business.
It seems to me that this is a good method.
Twitter has a number of advantages over other social networks.
Facebook. The length of the tweet is similar to the length of the Facebook status. However, Facebook has a filter, and on Twitter, every tweet appears in the readers' news feed.
Pinterest. Twitter allows you to upload photos and comment on other tweets. But on Twitter, the function of discussing a posted photo is much clearer than on Pinterest.
LinkedIn. The length of the tweet is the same as in the Link-In status. However, if Link-In is based on a relationship of trust (or mutual agreement), anyone can follow Twitter on Twitter, even strangers. It is convenient because you can find potential buyers there.

I prefer to use Twitter for the personal using and Facebook for business purposes.

Twitter is a great for the surface research, and staying updated in the topics you are interested in. I use like one of the news feed.
