UIGEA doesn't stop school treasurer from losing $57,000 betting on horses online
The UIGEA, whose proponents said that it would stop people from suffering the social ills of Internet gambling (but left Internet bets on horse racing off the table because of the industries powerful lobby), did not stop a former school treasurer from stealing over $57,000 to feed his online horse betting habit.

He got a three-year sentence ...
Updated story includes sentencing information ... he got three years for this, even though his lawyer argued that he shouldn't have to serve time because he paid the money back.
