Entain has been slapped with a £17 million regulatory settlement for social responsibility and anti-money laundering failures, the largest ever penalty handed out by the UK Gambling Commission,. which added that "the removal of their licence to operate" is a "very real possibility."
The failings were identified between December 2019 and October 2020 as part of an investigation into the operator’s digital and retail business. The Gambling Commission imposed a £14 million fine for licensing failures at LC International Limited, which runs Entain’s 13 gaming websites across Great Britain, including ladbrokes.com, coral.co.uk and foxybingo.com. Entain must also pay £3 million for "shortcomings" at its Ladbrokes Betting & Gaming Limited operation, which operates more than 2,700 betting shops across the UK.

“They should be aware that we will be monitoring them very carefully and further serious breaches will make the removal of their licence to operate a very real possibility. We expect better and consumers deserve better.”
