Unibet team banned from Tour de France
The Tour de France has banned Unibet's Green Cycle team from participating in the Tour de France because of its link to online gambling. The Green Cycle team ran into problems earlier this year in Marseille, but they were allowed to compete after removing Unibet logos. The Tour de France is not offering that option. The decision to ban Unibet's team is rich with irony. One of the main sponsors of cycling's top race is Pari Mutuel Urbain, which runs horse betting in France. And France's lottery operator, La Francaise des Jeux, sponsors a Tour de France team.

What a load of BS. What with past winners retiring, past contenders being busted and all the drug revelations due around about this time you'd think they'd be screaming out for cyclists! No Armstrong, no Basso, no Ullrich etc etc, hell even a Brit could win it at this rate

Then let me spell it out to you MATTED.
T ... A ... X ... E ... S !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let's be clear - because the French decision is black and white.
The French are saying our "taxed provider" is an acceptable sponsor.
Your non-tax paying sponsor is not.
Governments want tax revenue.
End of Story.

Yeah true. Its got nothing to do with morals - its all about the money *sigh*. Shame cos Le Tour comes straight through my village on the 8th July - its always quick to pass through but this year it sounds like it'll be even quicker. Maybe I should paint a big "F*CK THE GOVERNMENT - GAMBLE ONLINE" sign on the road in chalk
