Default Victim Regulations for a Victim Mentality: APCW Perspectives for 22 Nove

Victim Regulations for a Victim Mentality

In a world filled with 'victims' of all sorts of things,
it's no surprise that players are claiming to be victims of gambling.
And with the UKGC actively seeking out victims,
is it any wonder its regulations are so backward and grossly ineffective?

Every bet, by definition, involves risk and requires personal responsibility. If we start assuming that supposedly functional adults are unable to assess the consequences of their actions and need a regulatory body to babysit them and step in when things don't go their way (which, when it comes to gambling, is often the case) we not only open the door to opportunists but also gradually justify the need for more regulations to protect those who are considered helpless and incompetent.

Wow, hard to believe 2024 is almost over! In the gambling industry, it’s like a slow game of roulette—yet somehow the wheel spins faster every year!.. or something like that...

    Thanks for the great show!
