Yeah, I've heard of them. I don't use them but I've seen their name mentioned quite a bit over the years.
Had an issue with 1 and 1 some time ago....
We found that their terms did not actually allow databases to be used for commercial advertising, not sure if that is still in the terms or not but I would never put a site up with them under those terms....
I have considered testing them out on a dedicated servver plan though....

I used 1on1 hosting in the past, its a fair hosting company i guess.. I like Byethost more.
I use 1&1 and haven't had any problems for the past 5 years. A good company to work with and good support too!
used 1&1 a few years and had no problems, still have a webiste there.
I have account with 1&1
For now no complaints.
I usually select new hosting providers here - Web hosting reviews.
Not very happy with mochahost.
I would recommend 1&1, fatcow, bluehost, justhost
My experience with 1 and 1 was a disaster, bad support, bad cPanel, bad packages and even worse rates! Given it was when I was starting out so perhaps everything just seems easier now.
I would recommend the following:
Xilo (excellent service, excellent rates)
Bytehost
Bluehost
Fasthosts

These people really stink. (OK they suck) They tease you with low prices then pile on extras that should be included.
Customer support barely speaks English and even then they don't understand the concept of your problem.
They read back from "canned" responses that are not even relevant to your question. Their support is based in India
Do Not deal with these people they
are "Casino Portal UNFRIENDLY"
Go Daddy support speaks English and they really know where Chicago is located! Their support team actually helps you solve "newbie" problems without making you feel like your zipper is down on prom night. :joy:

Well regarding the support, i remember having some problems with cron jobs at 1on1, i asked for help and i got a comprehensive reply from them in half an hour. I guess it depends on the staff members who replies then.. :)
I've also contacted 1&1 support and got a correct, detailed answer very quickly. I thought the service was good.
Couldn't have put it better myself... from my experience (and I had quite a few) 1 & 1 support was full of copy and paste responses that didn't answer the question. Now I have tried elsewhere I will NEVER go back.Quote:
