Welcome to the GPWA, however I doubt I would bother joining the program or sending traffic since I feel your cookie terms reward larger affiliates and not those that possibly send the traffic that converts.

Affiliate A sends Visitor #1, they look around and do not sign up.

Affiliate B sends visitor #1 a 28 days later, they sign up and convert....

Affiliate A gets paid, Affiliate B does not and yet they sent the player AT TIME of CONVERSION.

Initially we wanted to sign up but decided to hold off a bit. I'd like to hear what other affiliates have to say about this program before we start promoting them. As you pointed out engineer their cookie policy is not in the best interest of small affiliates-good catch by the way.

Agreed, a 30 day cookie is fairly standard, but an OVER-WRITEABLE cookie is also fairly standard.

Just wanted to make a short note on how things are working at our club: When a player is registered , meaning he is leaving his information using one affiliate tracker, that Affiliate ID is automatically assign to his account and the affiliate of the player will not change ever. So when an affiliate is re-directing a player to Boomtown all traffic goes to that certain affiliate.

So a visit will give one click to Affiliate A, but the registration will be attached to Affiliate B and only Affiliate B will get the commission from that player.

That's true , we register a 30 day cookie. If you guys can suggest a better option, it will be truly appreciated.

Real simple, allow the cookie to be over-writeable.

Neither I nor any honorable affiliate would suggest giving a registered player to another affiliate, the issue is at the time of registration.

If the cookie is NOT over-writeable, the scenario I detailed above is in force and some affiliates may not want to promote properties based upon that policy.

That policy allows for MUCH fraudulent type of behavior, such as cookie-stuffing etc.

The 30 day (non over-writeable) cookie gives the registration to the first affiliate to send the visitor, no matter who converts the visitor into a registration.

An (over-writeable) cookie gives the registration to the affiliate that sent the visitor at the time they completed the registration.

Obviously, once a visitor registers, they are now a valid player, and the affiliate that got the credit for sending the registration deserves to be the players' referrer.

Disclaimer: Not all affiliates agree with my stance on this, and it should be clear this is only my opinion.

It is also possible, that the situation that Marina details above, proves that the visitor cookie is over-writeable, so there may be confusion as to the cookie details.

In the scenario I posted, if Affiliate B get credit for the signup after Affiliate A has sent the visitor previously, then the cookie must be over-writeable, otherwise the server will read the (non over-writeable) cookie and see the visitor as sent by Affiliate A.

I didn't understand Marina explanation either.

However, and maybe I'm in minority here, but i feel perfectly fine with 30 days cookies - it's still within the timeframe that the player remembers the casino he checked and might get back to it, but through a different site. Also, i know some programs have 180 days (way too long), so 30 days does make sense to me.
