Totally agree. Easy to get links? Not for me.
The only websites I can get links are websites I dont dont links from.
That is why I pay for links and is working as expected

It's pretty simple ... a site that will take paid links is NOT a quality site and probably has minimal real traffic.

This! But I see people buying links to sites like this all the time. My direct competitors have links on ****** and nearly abandoned gambling related sites. On the homepage. On what is blatantly obvious gambling link purchases to me. And yet they rank just fine...

Free links? Well I thought they were a myth in our industry until I realize that some great content can get you there. But mainly it is a cultural thing as well.

I notice it is easier to get free links in Japan than to buy them...
The big question is do you have the time to wait for the link?

I have a hard time taking these types of sites seriously. They are wrong on so many levels with regard to our site: backlinks, traffic, etc. And they all seem to provide radically different numbers. I just find it difficult to put much confidence in their results.

It is quite normal to give different results as they have different databases of websites which to analyze. As far as I know Majestic database is several time bigger than the MOZ one.

About having a free links, to share my opinion with the remark that it is only made by my personal opinion.

For me the best way to get free links are personal relationship with the site owners. I put free links on my sites for friends and I keep them there for free.

The other option is some kind of services. Lately I needed translation of some of my sites and I pay it with links. They are not 100% free as they have been paid with a service, but no money was exchanged.

But to get free links - make friends and common projects with other webmasters

DA 100% matters. Why is a link from harvard.edu so good? Because they have a DA94.

The higher the DA the better the back link quality.

If you're crafty you can get lots of free quality back links out there. Some with a DA of 94
