I think video content is getting more and more important for SEO. Search for anything now and often a video result will appear. Incorporating video to your site is something to give consideration too this year.
A good strategy is always to keep yourself updated with the latest news and updates form the SEO world. Thus, when you are updating your website you know exactly what works and what doesn't.
Keep always a fresh content and see if it works, because it is at the core of the business. If you see that your content is not readable and it has no real value maybe it is time to change. Also, it is important that you create internal linking within your content, you give a structure and give also, if you have, a source of where you found all the content. It is really important all the time you spend on creating valuable content for your audience.
This is goes also for social media, video and all the relative distribution channels you want to use. Remember each one of the mentioned channels has their own tone of voice, so you do not post the same thing on different platforms! Social signs today have a much higher impact on your SEO.
What else?
Link building is still something big, you need websites, in your niche, that tell google that your website is valuable. You need to create relationships between sites and make them link to you. How you do that? With interesting and appealing content.
There is so much about SEO, but also I believe that it is part of a bigger plan because you can leverage all the marketing tools that the internet is offering today!
1 Add hand spun content
2 Pray for google
3 Maybe some links
4 conquer serps
5 get whales to casino accounts
6 get drunk cause you've conquered the world
7 casino tells u no money cause of covid
8 get drunk, curse and complaine on gpwa
Or just do what LarryKelly said

No offence covid humour

Yes indeed sounds very simple.
But if you think about it... you create content, if needed an infographic do an outreach campaign (you learn by doing them).
Also, there are a things you can do.. sometimes we are focusing so much on what the big competitor is doing, but in reality you can really create something nice and unique without big budget and you can still do good.
Remember also that SEO is long term, so you might not see any change while doing it. It's like going to gym, only after couple of months you see results.
The more you do the more you learn.
A relationship it takes time of course and it takes also engagement from your end.
Here is an example>
I have a blog/ website that you would like to get a publication from.
you do some research to see what I miss or how my audience can benefit from something you create, you create this piece of content (image, video, text).
You subscribe to their social media or email... and day by day you start to engage with me on the platforms I am on.
While you create a little relationship with me.. after a couple of times you give value with your opinion, you can pitch me your content.
Like bla, bla, bla... ehi you know you might be interested in the content I created, I am sure your audience can benefit from it... share it if you like.
At this point you already established a relationship with me and I am more keen on accepting what you offering, and if I consider it valuable I can post if for free.
What are your thought on this? I would love to hear back from you
I started affiliate marketting in 2005 when times were different. At the time a simple banner farm and a few links could bring in full time salary equivalent. It was crazy times.
I am just getting back in to the affiliate side of the industry and find that I am only focussing on quality content. I am trying really hard to unlearn what I "knew" then and concentrate on creating interesting content. Easier said than done.
So here's my top list:
(1) Quality content.
(2) Avoid previous link traps. directories, article submissions, link exchanges, and low quality blog posts.
(3) Responsive site with focus on mobile.
(4) Analysis of competition. Improving, analyzing, and iteration.
That being said, I found one of my old wordpress sites I have not touched in 4 yeaars. Since I last posted blackhat hats have been posting 4-5 articles a day with spammy spun content. Good seems to have not penalize it, and ranks for the casino based keywords in the posts (I've deleted them). I think I'll make a post about that. It's an interesting case study.

Do you think PBN is still worth it with google constantly targeting those?
I have quite a few offers to engage in such network, but somehow hesitate so it would be nice to hear some opinions about its value for SEO now.
I think in 2020 Google will perfrom better in understanding of content using Bert. And we need to be aware of intent changes for a lot of keywords.

A lot of this comes down to if someone wants their affiliate site/s to become an actual stable business, or something with a little money on the side.
Quality takes investment, and quality at scale is hard to do for sure.
I'm not going to promote our agency in any obnoxious way but there are many ways to earn links consistently using content marketing and digital PR....even for small teams.
For conventional paid link building, it unambiguously can deliver value if done the right way - but a 'paid link' doesn't need to be a ****** link. If the content is exceptional, the site is strong and the audience is topically relevant to your niche it will have value.
I speak at quite a lot of iGaming events and often people are asking for shortcuts and budget options - this approach (unless you're exceptionally clever and lucky) is a false economy
It's really getting harder and harder each passing year to get on page 1. Unless you have a lot of money to spend, it could take years before you get one of your post on the top page.
