yeah, don't buy link on fiver
just do a competitor research or niche research

also basic seo knowledge would help a lot

I'd always go the SEO route. As it's the best route to take (in my opinion).

If done correctly you can reap the benefits.

I would have focused on a better quality theme that was visually appealing.

Starting over would require a 'huge' budget imo. It's become a lot harder to find less competitive niches. However, using ahrefs to see what backlinks competitors are using is a good way to get a ball park.

I don't think there is a single good strategy. it all depends on the popularity of this game, you may not need as many ads as others, it's all more intuitive. this is my subjective opinion.

If I had to start from scratch, I would focus more in:
- Learning how to build websites on my own.
- Studying SEO in depth.
- Establishing relationships / sharing with more experienced people.

I think that would cover a lot of the mistakes I made along the way and the current demands of this job.

Google's plan is to send less and less traffic (for free)...
So in my humble opinion, SEO should not be the only focus, far from it actually
I would spend max 20% of my time on SEO and 80% on other sources of traffic
