It is complicated to achieve a low bounce rate. Especially for affiliates that rely on organic search traffic, and whose goal is to send that traffic to an online gaming site in the hope of earning affiliate revenue as rapidly as possible. Also, when generating traffic through organic search, you sometimes get really strange results. Here are a couple examples I know about:
On the GPWA website I once noticed that for a period of time there was a good amount of traffic coming in based on organic searches involving tattoos. Not exactly a subject I would normally think of as important for an affiliate-oriented online gaming site. But we had a thread that rated highly in that area for a while in the fun diversions forum started by Renee:
Tattoos and Piercings
Another example I know about is that on the Poker Zone website Casino City runs, there is a poker dictionary, and one of the pages is for a hand known as Anna Kournikova. That page normally does not receive much traffic, but on the 1st and 2nd of January 2016 it received over 40,000 page views, all from organic search. But the bounce rate of those visitors was 95.26% according to Google Analytics.
Overall, for the GPWA website, the bounce rate has averaged 49.83% over the past month, pretty much entirely due to visitors for which the site is really off-topic. That bounce rate is not surprising for a site that is highly focused in a particular topic area, but that also receives lots of search engine traffic on sometimes not directly-related topics.
Besides sharing the bounce rate of your most important site in the poll, be sure to comment on your thoughts about bounce rates. And if you have any interesting stories about traffic to your site, be sure to share them in a post as well.
