Default What Happened to My Ahrefs "URL Rating"?

I woke up a couple days ago and checked Ahrefs, which I tend to do once a month or so. When I checked it, I saw this:

    Name: 007e66c55843c2c8c75b076056f226c7.png
Views: 507
Size: 1.4 KB

Note the URL rating dropped from 28 to 8!

This was from the dashboard, so it refers to my homepage. I have noticed traffic coming down on some of our better pages in the last week or two, but I figured it was because we were editing/updating them and they were doing the Google Dance for a while. But now, I'm very concerned.

We have done nothing to site with regard to changing site structure. We haven't engaged in buying any shady link. We haven't been spamming the site in any way, shape, or form. In fact, I can't think of anything that we might have done to cause something like this.

What on Earth could have caused something like that to happen?

I changed hosting services a few months ago, and noticed a high number of google crawl errors. A few days later, my rankings and traffic were affected. Check your GWT for crawl errors. It's probably something else that is causing it, but this is just one possibility.

I wouldn't worry. I've seen some wild swings during the last days. Example: UR of askgamblers is currently down to 11 (29 previously) and some other sites are also down. For some sites it's not showing any keywords at the moment. I'm fairly certain ahrefs is having some technical problems at the moment and that they will fix it soon.

I think you were correct. My UR rating jumped back up to 27 (down 1 pt) from prior. Thanks for the info !

I had the same thing happen to me and it bounced straight back a few days later. Ahreft algorithm is not Google's so as long as you didn't take a dive in Webmasters then I wouldn't worry about it.

Don't pay too much attention to ahrefs. Sometimes it gives sites crazy-high domain and URL ratings when it's clear the site doesn't have a great backlink profile. Just use your own common sense in this scenario.

why worry? it's a 3rd party metric, it has literally no affect on your serps.
