    Default What happened to Sweetbet?

I was digging around online today and came across something of Sweetbets in some obscure corner of the web.

I went to the website and it's gone.

I went to the profile, and sweetbet has not posted since August 2020.

Anyone know what happened to formerly prolific poster sweetbet?

I know sweetbet, and he's an older relative of mine.

The reason he hasn't been posting is because he has stopped working as a casino affiliate, and instead, he is now working as a security guard, because he wasn't making enough money to support his 2 young daughters.

I know, Strider, it’s very sad. He’s coping okay though and the pay is reasonably decent.

Oh, I feel sorry for him...

Really hard to see that someone who was an affiliate since 2001 and that was talking about BTC already in 2014 has now to work as a security guard...

Why would sweetbet take down the affiliate websites? Surely leaving them up at least gives the chance for earning more side income?

    Why take them all offline?

Because he doesn’t have a lot of time to himself, unfortunately. He works 12-hour shifts (7am-7pm) and he doesn’t want to keep maintaining his websites. He’s still working with cryptocurrency and that’s also helping him.

Agreed that keeping the sites up, even if they became stagnant, most likely would have at least had the potential to help possibly grabbing the odd player here or there that might have provided even small amounts of income.

    That is pretty short-sighted.

He could have sold links for at least $2-300 a month if nothing else.

Also, oddly coincidental that SweetBet was your cousin all this time... hmmm

I understand that the end is the end. Just thinking about something takes a lot of energy. The more is one distracted the lower is the quality of life and the worse are the results in other things.

If one works as security guard it is maybe very little money, but also easy life. No hassless, no responsibility. Selling links for small money on the top can be viewed as very bad investment and I certainly would not do it. If you do not monitor the hosting/domain extension etc, it can always go down. Then you will be rightfully accused of scam. All that when you can live an easy low-cost life? For me it would be a disaster.

Put the hosting on a recurring credit card charge, or better yet prepay it.

Post a link on GPWA selling links.

    Easy stuff.

Each link probably worth 10 hours of security guard work.

Not to mention keeping the sites up has to generate *SOME* revenue, while taking them down almost guarantees a loss of recurring revenue as programs invoke minimum player clauses...

    Just sayin'

That is exactly how many things of mine were ****** up and even with hostings. The fact that you prepay something does not mean that it will work. Hosting can be hacked, data lost; hostings change the system (like newer php etc). So many things can go wrong and with time certainly they will go wrong. Credit card can be compromised/cancelled, then is forgotten that the hosting is paid of that.

And many other things can go wrong and they also will at random point in future. There is nothing like a passive income. Even more: they way to be rich or effective or just enjoy the life is to cut all the things and focus on few. Recently a person wanted to give me a few acres of land for free. Just a land. I told him that I absolutely do not want that. Just paying the taxes (very low, but thinking about it) and thinking that I have some piece of land somewhere is a nightmare.

Just sayin... if he was my cousin, I'd help him out, even if that meant giving him 'free hosting'; AFAIK you have your own server CB.

Damn, he seemed like an honest guy. I understand him getting out though, I had to but that's because I live on an island, and it's small. Even smaller when you consider the affiliate programs that merged, changed terms and rear ended me.
