Default What have you done on the site and would not repeat it

What did you do on your site and you wouldn't repeat it if you turned back time.
I mean things that continue. E.g. you used an important plugin that doesn't suit you but is critical and you need to keep using it. And these types of things that continue to this day. I don't know e.g. you used an elementor and you would prefer another one, you used a domain other than you wanted and you don't want to redirect etc.

In my case there are rather no such things, I rethought the architecture of the site earlier. However, if I had to choose, I don't know if not the number of languages. I've always wanted to have a multilingual site and chose software for which the API doesn't match (but I would choose it again anyway because it's much better than the competition) and everything has to be done manually copy-paste (something for something, so that a page in a foreign language can be completely different) However, it consumes some time and is tiring, even though there are only 3 languages.

One thing that I didn't do initially is link cloaking, so on different pages I had to manage cta button links manually.

Not separating bonus content and offers. It was such a pain in the butt to have to constantly edit things when offers changed back and forth, especially around things like the Grand National. A separate bonus system is a massive time saver.

Not building a widget that would allow me to change all the links for a brand just by replacing one, which would replicate all those links through the site.

Instead I have to do each one manually.

Actually does such a thing assist? (if it doesn't and you build it I want 15%!)

    You can use https://dinomatic.com/plugins/nonaki
Although you'd still need to replace existing links, but it will be the last time.

Can't you just do a redirect and change that when needed?

I set a new site to noindex just with the intention of having it that way for a few days while finishing adding pages....and G found it too early, took notice of the noindex....and didn't come back again for something like 4 months.

I worked on a few sites redesign once on an ip.
Had the no index, the go the heck away all set, even used a robots text to say stay away.

Started seeing clicks generated from the ip. Realized I should have blocked by ip and always do on development sites now.

Was a year ago, still to this day I see click stats in 1 or 2 programs from said ip on rare occasions, even though the ip no longer answers and has not for close to a year. Not sure how the links must have been scraped to show the referrer that way still, but it does happen.

Similar to chaumi's issue, when one of those sites went live, it took quite a while before the warning from google that pages were blocked by robots txt cleared up. (yep carelessly used the real ip in one of the cases)

Now when I use an ip for development, I block all traffic except ip's of me or a developer when needed.

Sometimes I've updated WordPress plugins just to find out later that they didn't work properly, as I've rushed things.

Even though updating plugins and WordPress itself is important for cyber security reasons.

What I've done and would not do again is build websites directly. I don't like how I separated the content on one of my sites; I think I would have a superior result if I had spent more time deciding how I wanted to look at the end.

It is something that can be fixed, and I have not received any negative feedback, but it is extra work that could have been avoided if I had done things correctly from the start.

Advance planning, yes. There's a lot to be said in its favour.

Many times I planned ahead. But then I didn't like this plan in practice and had to revise everything.
A lot depends on the particular person and his personality. For one person a clear plan will be best, for another improvisation.
