I'll answer from a horse racing perspective as a regular punter (though the theory should apply just the same to football, tennis etc)

That oddsalert site would drive me nuts, almost unuseable...but that judgement might be affected somewhat by decimal odds, as a traditional punter I'm much happier seeing 33-1, 25-1 etc (especially in the win result when my £2 was on it!)

I want to see a range of bookies - definitely including WH, VC, Corals, Bet365, Boyle, Sportingbet, PP, maybe Ladbrokes (but I'm limited with them so unlikely they'd ever get my custom)...I want to be able to easily scan for best current odds, I want it to be real time and accurate.

Truth is I would have no conceivable need to go anywhere other than the Racingpost....and of course I would never click on the banners, all I want is the info/odds.

Good choice !! I like it too!

As for odds checkers - I like sites that are fast, cover my favourite bookmakers, don't need too many clicks, and are customisable.

So I like betexplorer.com because they cover a lot of books, and if you have a free login you can just show your favoured bookies, and get to your bet in a lot of leagues in about three clicks. It's a very smart layout.

I also use oddschecker.com for checking out the more usual "prop" bets (first scorer, anytime scorer etc) just because it seems to cover a lot of the bets ... but it's not my favourite site because it's slower and takes more clicks.

I also like odds1x2.com's nice tight summary of best prices on their front page. It's colourful, informative, and you can quickly click to drill down and get a more detailed view. We use a version of that on our own oddschecker page.

like TheGooner already said, from the odds checker perspective: fast, some clicks to get which matches would you like to see.
a while ago i started my own comparison site http://1x2.rs AND it is DAMN difficult to cover everything right.. i'm still build that site at it have some "errors"..
my favourites are oddsportal.com, betbrain AND of course goonersguide.com

    good luck bogdy06!

yep oddschecker is incredible, so many markets and options, fast site and lots of bookies (also ranks well on Google) would kill for a site like that

Thanks to all for your answers . So far, i notice that are important :

    1. Quick links
    2. A lot of Bookies
    What else !?

But what about the sport review area. I want my site to be more human than just a simple oddscomparison site. I think this area is more important than the other part(odds comparison), cause when you click to place a bet most of the time you double check the odds to see if they are real, but a good tip is always ok.
As i said http://www.goonersguide.com i love it. I check also the reviews on http://checkyourodds.co.uk. They are ok providing reviews especially for Premier League, and they also have a oddscomparison solution.
So for reviews . Do you think it is important or just go for the bookies odds?

    thank you bogdy,
it can be much better when you look all another site... but i'm really satisfied what i have done for "short" time: learned php, mysql and how to implement xml feeds.
have still have some bookmakers where i have no idea how to get start with their feed.. eg SOAP, JSON feeds..
i'm still learning but think that i'm being old for this
if you have much friends which can help you, it will be easier.. one men show will get a lot of time..

Your site looks great indeed! It just needs a little bit of updating at the top of the index page, though. Otherwise, it has a neat and professional presentation.

Personally, for me the most important thing is how fast and understandable web is. And to be honest Oddschecker.com not the best web to make bets. As they are quite complicated to use, plus they have a limited amount of markets on the web. And what I hate most is their "real-time" odds updating, which is not true. Ones you make a click, most probably that odd is already changed. I was quite disappointed as a couple of years ago it was way better web than its right now. So my favourite webs right now are easyodds_com and oddsmagnet_com
Those two are my favourite right now. Easyodds is quite famous and Oddsmagnet is a website that I found one month ago and which surprised me a lot. As it has an amazing (understandable) interface and I like the fact that they add every week 1-2 new bookmaker.
