A progressive jackpot is one that grows larger and larger as the game is played more. A progressive slot is a slot machine that offers a progressive jackpot. These machines are often combined together, so if no one wins the jackpot it continues to grow based on a percentage of the money wagered at each of the slot machines in the group.

This allows the jackpots to be larger than they would be on a specific machine, but it is also interesting because it means the size of the potential prize is changing. Unlike most slot games, the use of progressive jackpots means that the number of players a casino has ("player liquidity") is important just like it is in bingo, lotteries, and poker.

A progressive jackpot, lets say for a slot machine means that that slot machines is "linked" with many other slot machines, at other online casinos. This means that the jackpot builds based on the income made from all the slot machines that have that specific progressive jackpot. This is how they get so big, so quickly.

Might I also add that in order to win the the progressive jackpot, one must bet the maximum amount on every turn (actually, only on the turn they win). This is enticement for people to bet more money over time.

    Hi all,

writing content about such matters for other members prompted me to ask the question ... what % is kept to the casino and what % is returned into the jackpot.

not sure i understood the one reply i got which was c.3%

does that mean that 3% of all taken in ..... is kept and the rest returned into the kitty?

sounds reasonable since tha would make it a 97% payback but thought i"d ask/inform

    cheers all

Almost Here! How would you like to be able to get not just one sign up from your player, or even a couple, but every single casino they join from here on? I've a plan that can make that happen and it will likely also tell you every time the player is active within the casino.

    Good question BB1,

I would just add that it has to be a small percentage, as when you watch the tickers at the top of the progressive jackpot, it is usually moving up in increments of about $50 per move, meaning that a small percentage is being taken from all the players at all the online casinos playing that progressive slot. So, my guess is that 3% would be a fair amount to say, but dont quote me on that.

I don't know if I'm getting you right, but if I am... All you have to do is look at the payout. If it's 98%, that's what the casino is getting. If that doesn't make sense, then I suggest a course in statistics.

Sorry if I seem like a jerk.

    Have a good one.
