I think GeneratePress makes the job. It is easy to use, you can customize it pretty well and super fast to be honest. Do you have good feedback on the others ?

Choosing a wordpress theme often depen on the type of website you want to develop.
For ecommerce websites, my goto is OceanWp. The free version is almost a premium when compared to other ecommerce websites. Plus it is light weight and loads fast.
Recently, i have turn to Astra theme. because I realise OceanWp doesn't load very fast with Elementor. I have tried it with other page builders, but i'm a fan of Elementor, so when OceanWp started giving me loading problems, I shy away from it.
Astra theme is good, loads fast with Elementor like crazy! the free theme is however very limited when compared with Oceanwp, you'll have to download extra plugins or do some additional php coding to get your desired features with the free version.
So basically choosing a wordpress themes depends on word you want to achieve. If it is just a simple blogging website, then i will go for the default wordpress themes.
I use Flatsome theme with casino review plugin from Flytonic and considering VegasHero plugin for the games, does anybody have experience with VegasHero Plugin and can tell me if it's worth it or not?
I'm running a website in Japan, so this may not be of much help to you...
In Japan, a Wordpress theme called SWELL is currently very popular.
I have recently been looking for themes for a one-pager and the ones that I find are coming up most are Astra, Divi, and GeneratePress. I am looking for something with clean code and good SEO optimisation, so if anyone has any suggestions that would be great!
I think most of them are already mentioned in this thread.
But for a one pager, Astra will do the job. Divi (Elegant Themes) have recently done some update work to improve speed (Divi used to be a nightmare), so probably usable now.
Alternatively, you could probably do worse that just using the free Kadence with Gutenberg.
I'd go for the last-named as a starter. With good enough hosting, you ought to be able to get it reasonably fast, and it should be clean enough in general. Fairly straightforward to do it as a test first and see what you get.
imho SEO optimization is not really related to the theme (other than the clean code/technical/speed aspects of course, which might have varying levels of impact). Outside the theme, you SEO optimize in various ways, but that's a different discussion.
Hey Chaumi,
Thank you for your response, it was really helpful! I will definitely give Astra a go :eyebrow:
I love Oceanwp.
Clean, fast with tons of options.
On top of that it integrates well with Elementor.
Good luck
Based on some of the recent suggestions here I have looked at a few more themes.
I have recently tried Flat Bootstrap, Neve, Astra, and Hueman.
Each one had some good points and features, however overall from a fast tracked perspective, especially for those that might be a little less knowledgeable with the finer tweaking perspectives of css and wordpress theme manipulation I think Hueman was one of the easiest to get going especially for those that want a left or right sidebar and numerous widget areas.
Although a few of them did allow for some freedom of choice in sidebar or navigation menu choices, some seemed more cumbersome in turning off or customizing features that felt should have been easier instead of requiring to disable say in css with display....none etc.
Also to note, my tests and investigating of the above themes did not involve any block editors or additional plugins etc, just the basic theme installs and the general beginning stages of getting a general layout, color schemes, logo, main menu and mobile menus etc.
Each one also had their quirks out of the box such as the css in some parent elements over riding changes I wanted to make where I had to dig a bit more to make some elements behave the way I wanted, but unless you are willing to have someone else do such things, you should expect to have to deal with such things as you develop the overall infrastructure of what you want a theme to do for you.
The more knowledgeable a person is with customization and depending on what features one may be looking for, IMO most of them would be an ok starting point, and for those that are looking, be sure to look at those mentioned in this thread.

I usually try not to use the theme at all on my sites, because themes can slow down the site a little.
My go-to theme for now is Astra. You get unlimited sites with the paid version and it's speed optimization is pretty great. It also looks respectably good out of the box with minimal customization required.
That being said, I'm super curious about Mediavine's Trellis theme. It's super expensive, but from the few initial impressions I've read about it, the theme makes up the price by having excellent page speed times. It may not be worth it for smaller sites, but the ROI is probably worth it for bigger sites.
I'm using Afinger 5.
Afinger 5 is a WordPress theme specializing in blog affiliates.
Since I started using this WordPress theme, I've been doing a lot well.
By the way, Afinger 6 is currently on sale in Japan.
For companies with a small budget who want to move forward with a WP CMS
I suggest you make a setting with Generatepress with Elementor.
Add Auptomize and WP Rocket
your site will be flawless
Tom and his team at GeneraPress are good listeners and know how the WP CMS works.
the selection of parameters once done will be incredible - Auptomize and WP Rocket.
it can take you 2 hours or 4 days depending on your knowledge. plan a budget of $300
Once you have made your selection, don't forget to pay a trustworthy person to modify the HTACCESS file and the parameters of your server cPanel
I would tell you that 75% of websites don't use their performance potential because hosting & resellers do it voluntarily to prevent you from consuming too much on shared servers.
the speed of a website does not only depend on your CMS but also on the details of your hosting plan it sometimes takes less than 20 minutes to modify and it is day and night
Tested Mercury, Poka. For now in the sense of Turney solutions/ready made features Poka is the best.
I gave up Mercury with drawback regarding AMP.
If you like dark themes try Posterity but can also be light
Neve rocks!
