I voted less than 25% because most of this mail goes something along the lines of, "Hello. Do you remember me? We worked together back in ... when I was at such and such an affiliate program. I'd love to work with you again."Most of the time, I don't remember the person. Then there are many emails trying to sell or buy links, and sometimes domains and websites.

I respond to mostly all non spam emails if I know that person. If it is someone that is trying to sell links or something like that, I do not.
About 10% of human emails get a response.
Much of it is poorly worded SEO offering from a Gmail account (yeah - right!), or very bland cold call approaches for advertising from low-rent outfits. There is no point in encouraging that sort of mail.
The AM stuff from people we work with is often a generic newsletter that don't need a response.
Sometimes I think AMs forget an affiliate newsletter is B2B communication not B2C.
If I do get something that we actually use from a program then I usually do respond to the AM thanking them.
(IF you are an AM reading this and thinking he never responds to my mails ... it's a sign that I'm not using it ... uh-oh)

It depends from the email, there are emails which 80% of receivers probably opens. But I can say that I always try to be polite, but when same affiliates but different managers write to PROMOTE themselves, I keep ignoring and then tell them that I am going to sue themThey apologize and they write again and again

Our favorite ones are the so-called SEO experts from India with English names. ''Hi my name is Jeff Davis and bla bla'' . We sometimes write back with -- Please send us copies of your Passport proving your name and then we can proceed to contract . Usually goes quiet! ---------------- But the ones that really rattle my cage are when people are presumptuous, this is a small part of one received earlier today : '' It would be my great pleasure to set up a call with you in order to finalise the details of this affiliate agreement. We believe in making the process as simple and time-efficient as possible so you can continue to concentrate on your day-to-day business. Amazing, We told this people to go away three times now!!

About 15% here. There is a LOT to sort through. If your one who has been trying to get in please don't give up you never know, I may answer.
It is not that I do not care, it is that it takes so much time. If I answered all of them I would not have time to make my current managers happy.
One day i hope to expand to the point where I an afford a secretary but until then this is best way.

My guess is that more than 60% of email never even gets to the recipients mailbox.
What most do not understand is how much is filtered due to bad ip's, bayesian filters as well as no spf records or other filters that mail servers use to dump mail before it even gets to the mailbox.
Those that get dynamic ip addresses that change constantly (such as those in the UK as a simple example) do not realize how often they are using ip's that are on blacklists.
Those that use such proxies and ip address hiders (such as hidemyip) may not realize that those ip's are ending up on more and more blacklists all the time.

Thanks, CasinoVergelijker, for your poll question. We're going to use it as the poll-of-the-week in the newsletter we send out later today. In preparation for that we have made some small edits to the poll question to make sure it is clear to everyone.

You're welcome!I respond about half of it I think. I used to respond all, but some time ago I stopped to respond mails that have no sense. F.e. the mails from affiliate managers that they didn't receive traffic yet and if we can talk about better positions, etc...
Trying to respond everyone but sometimes its just too much![]()
I respond to as many as I can, where I think it's required. ie. not someone selling a product, service, etc. I guess it probably is in the 30-40% range.
Emails just take too long to work through if you're not ruthless enough. Time is too precious to waste on nonsense. At the moment most of my email time is spent working through a deal with a guy who's just about to deposit $25 Million into my bank account relating to an inheritance I wasn't aware of and also a super sounding girl that's going to meet me for some fun times!! Aren't I a lucky chap!![]()
I have the (bad) habbit of responding to almost every e-mail that comes my way. Even people that wish me dead for losing on my betting tips, I still answer when I have the time.

I voted less than 25%, mostly because people seems so "rude". Nobody is even trying to get to know you or send you a personal question.
It's some sort of a template where they only switch the names of the site, containing cheese lines like "your site is perfect" etc etc and the whole introduction, proposal and everything is in there.
Like seriously, do people do that face to face? Do you shake someone's hand and directly start talking about offers? Another silly thing I see is the way the letter ends "If you are interested, please get in touch with me". In a week you get "I haven't heard from you". Umm maybe cause not interested..?
Anything sent from readers, I do answer.
Not sure if serious? Although wouldn't necessarily be surprised...
I think this is very important. If a customer or potential customer takes the time to reach out, they should get a real and human response. We even respond the crackpots, at least once. Though if they are abusive with the language we tend to stop responding.

Definitely less than 25%: anything directly related to our sites from genuine visitors virtually 100%; SEO agencies, web designers, link exchanges, guest post requests (yes still getting them!) virtually 0% if you exclude the 'remove me from your database' response![]()
I try to answer to every manually sent email I receive.
Almost 100% of them. That's the least I can do for somebody who spent some time on sending me a personal email.
I try to give everyone an answer, you never know when a contact might be useful in the future.
