Voted 4th Quarter of 2021, trying to stay optimistic here my dilemma was between "Never" to 4th Quarter of 2021.. so IF they'll ever return to normal I guess about a year from now it's a reasonable timeframe

I chose Q3 2021, but I don't think things will be normal. I think Q3 2021 is when Australians will be allowed to leave the country again, and I hope I'm way off tbh. I'm hoping our state borders will be reopened way before then.

I knew we wouldn't have certain things back by now (thinking mostly of my dance hobbies - social dancing), but I hoped I'd be wrong when I said no socials before the end of the year way back in March.

According to the AU federal Treasurer Josh Frydenberg....

“From 1 January to 30 June 2021, it is assumed that the travel ban is lifted, but that a two-week quarantine period is required of arrivals to Australia,” the statement says. “This leads to the resumption of arrivals by temporary and permanent migrants, but at lower levels overall than normal,’’ the Treasury document states.

But Mr Frydenberg stressed on Thursday that no policy decisions had been made on this basis.

“In terms of the borders, the assumptions are that it very gradually starts to come back, that the quarantine is applied, that you start potentially bringing in some international students,” he said.

    ---------

I would say Renee, if you plan to travel OS, expect to spend two-weeks (14 days) in quarantine, immediately after arriving back on AU soil. Would this mean in a hotel, or at your place, who knows???

Or maybe this travel ban lift is only applicable to incoming flights. And, out bound internationals will remain banned.

Meanwhile in Rio, where corona is 10-100x more serious in Australia.

The countries with excessive measures will face even more serious issues:
    1. Enjoy the lockdown
    2. Crush the economy to the max
    3. Open the borders after (to Brazil for example) and reinfect the population
    4. Rinse and repeat
We are all bloodsucking ticks, hungry, devious
each one latched on to the ass of the previous
when the last and the first latch on it can be shown
ass-blood sucked by the first from the last is his own

Yeah I did see that too. If I was allowed to isolate at home for 14 days coming home, I'd be gone in a heart beat. If I have to pay $3000 for hotel quarantine for 2 weeks, no point. I also have a feeling that the ban will only be lifted for incoming and not outgoing.

100%. The difference is probably that by the time we start letting people in, places like Brazil will have herd immunity and be back to relatively normal, and we will still be vulnerable.

Australia officially declared it's first recession since end of WW2 today. Go us.

Today they extended whatever biosecurity law prevents us leaving the country for another 3 months until mid Dec. So we will know in Dec whether it will be extended to March. Expected I guess so no surprise there. Just wish everyone would stop sending me that stupid daily mail article about us possibly having a bubble with Hawaii from October 1 because it's not going to happen and it's depressing.

I am sure biased and I did not visit many places like Iran or North Korea yet, but I am starting to feel that the top 3 most authoritarian/fascistic countries, where the rage is aimed at themselves are:

Nr3: United States - a superpower that could have power for long, but instead of it chose the most stupid economic policies to accelerate the clash of classes to the border of civil war

Nr2: United Kingdom - a former superpower, a queen of faded glory, with highest concentration of crooks in the world; before the coup de grace aka Brexit UK sadly destroyed whole affiliate industry

Nr1: Australia - Black Hole; innovative at locking everyone (refugees to distant isles or their own citizens). Actually even the most courageous online sport bookies owned 100% by mafia avoid this South Hemisphere Mordor

It is probably way over the top, but that image is in my head and I can not help to correct it. It is maybe just the difference between the 2020 state and the not so far history, when those 3 countries were the leaders of freedom.

Especially in those 3 countries the post covid life will be changed the most is my guess (and no, it will not be for the better).

In Germany most probably Q2 2021 because they will wait to long until they give any vaccination to people.

I don't think the world will be the same anymore. We will have to learn to live in the new reality.

    昔の生活に戻ることはないと思います。昔の生活に戻ることはないと思います。結局のところ、人との交流や時 間の過ごし方は180度変わっています。将来出現する可能性のある新しいウイルスと共存せざるを得ないと思 います。

English translation: I don't think I'll go back to my old life. After all, the way we interact with people and spend time has changed 180 degrees. I think we have to coexist with new viruses that may appear in the future.

The covid19 regulations are easing, and gradually life will be back to normal around the world.
The era of covid19 is coming to an end.
