Default Where do you send your users? Landing Page / Registration Page / Homepage

    Hi guys,

I was just wondering what everyone's opinions are on which page you should send a user to for optimal conversion. Do you send users from your website to a..

Landing page: In theory these should be the best (large emphasis on the offer, clear CTA, etc) however they're not specific (our affiliate site is about lotto betting, most companies don't have landing pages for this so we have to use generic welcome bonus landing pages)
Registration page: The user has already seen the offer and seen the brand so sending them straight to registration page seems to be the quickest path.
Home page: They recognise the brand of the website you're sending them to and don't feel like they're being forced into doing anything.

Very few of my players take the bonuses.. so usually home page is best... Some bookies have odds pages which work really well also.. never send them to a registration page.. I have tried and conversions were terrible .

Home page is the best compromise for all. I too would avoid registration pages, it seems people want to make that decision to press the 'join' button themselves, if you do it for them by directing them straight to registration they become suspicious I think.

Overall its easier for me as I am primarily offers based and most send you specific tracking links for those.

Either home or landing page, depends on the website they're on, bookie, offer etc..

    Never the reg page though.

The default page for the link ... trust the program to optimise the page choice.

The landing page works the best for me. Reg pages is a terrible one obviously, it's too much too soon and puts the users off.

We always send our first time users to homepage or specific article, depending on our post in Social Networks etc. In most cases convertion via landing page will be higher, but you need more traffic to drive there. Also, you want to think about engaging with your users later on... If you send them to your homepage they might read bunch of articles, then come back and so on... Landing page could be closed and forgotten in the same second.

I see your point, but there are plenty of times when that doesn't really work out - especially when landing pages get changed.

Ladbrokes, for example, have a habit of changing their main free bet landing page whenever they have an enhanced odds sign up offer - so if you use that landing page and you're promoting the £50 free bet, the user won't see this whenever the alternative offer is being run and instead be taken to a LP for the enhanced odds.

Maybe the user would want it [the enhanced odds] more, but maybe the wouldn't (eg: if it's for rugby and the user doesn't care about rugby they may prefer to have the regular free bet but not realise that it's still available).

In this scenario I tend to use the home page or promo page instead.

Noticed this yesterday on our links as it happens, wholly irrelevant to the traffic we've been sending through so conversion has been dire. Swapped them over for some (hopefully) generic landing page links but will have to keep a very close eye on this.

Surely it would be far more logical to have one link which always goes to the £50 landing page and another which always goes to any tactical offer that's out there that day that reverts back to the £50 in between times...

Agree totally, I didn't realise this was happening I'll keep an eye on my own links. Really bad form for them to do this I definitely agree they need a link that is for the standard offer and a link for enhanced offers. Easy peasy to do.

I voted for home page. I use the home page in the beginning of an article and the second link or banner I "close the sale" with a lander. With topbar and sidebar banners I usually experiment but split it down the middle.

We find affiliates who use Exclusively created landing pages tend to convert well , however if these pages are so far from the actual brand identity of the casino this can cause players to think twice about trying the casinos.

So its sometime best to send direct to Homepages in saying that if you have a lander that has all the elements of the casino on it and looks and feels like the homepage these work really well.

In most cases - to the home page, in case of exclusive bonuses - to the landing page.

Like RacingJim wrote - LP is the best, Reg. page not so much (for me) - BUT it depends on the traffic you send there from, of course..

Yes, it depends - you need to divide the traffic to warm and cold.

If the traffic is warm, so the person have all information and desire to make action (recieve bonus, play for free..), it is not problem to send him to homepage or regpage, but if the traffic is cold, for example from PPC, it is definitelly worth to send him to special landing page..

We do a lot of exclusive bonuses and get co-branded landing pages made for them. Seems to work well.

I also can say that registration pages work the worst for me. I generally use odds pages or homepage.

Mixed feelings here.. I think LP's do well with special offers etc as long as they reflect the casinos identity they work well.
