Default Why did you become an online gambling affiliate?

In the private forums, there's an interesting discussion surrounding what inspired members to become online gambling affiliates. That's a pretty intriguing question, so I decided to ask the our members what prompted them to become an online gaming affiliate? This poll allows you to have multiple choices, so please select as many as apply to you. And if you select other, please share your story in the thread. We're all interested in learning why everyone made the leap into becoming an online gambling affiliate.

I started off as a player. Had some serious issues to come about with an online casino. While looking for all information I could find on the place, I decided to start a forum, yes, on EZboard named Insomniacs Lounge.

I wanted to get any and all information out to other players about operations that cheated the players.

From there I became an affiliate, and have made (and sold) several
gaming sites/portals. Only one forum now, and starting to get information on it about shady casinos/operations and affiliate programs. Taking time
for it's new, but it will soon be informative to the player.

I was talked into it by a friend who wanted to start a casino site and asked me organize one. At the end of a longer period of enquiries and visiting conferences, I got interested in the affiliate business, I think mostly out of curiousity and also because I liked the people I met during the conferences and also the overall atmosphere there.

Building database driven websites and testing various experiments became a hobby of mine shortly after graduating college. It wasn't long before I wanted to monetize these websites and the affiliate biz (especially igaming) offered a fairly lucrative business model.

I started as a player then during a leave from my day job I got involved in moderating then admin of a forum. It just got in blood and the checks where a good draw too. Now I can't stop.

Love the industry and love the people, glad to out of retail and into this full time. Now if I can only make enough to stay in it.

I started out as a player and then a good mate of mine showed me this gambling site he owned and said I should try it out!
So a few weeks later i had spent endless hours building a very simple link farm( trust me when i say simple i mean it)
As im very picky, i quickly changed the site and from there on I have ever since been trying to achive the best possible look for my sites!!
As we all know there is always going to be a site out there that is better than yours!

Well thats how i got involved!

    Regards.

I was enticed into owning a monetized website by Webzcas, He was my Boss at Ladbrokes at the time, and I saw the money pouring into his neteller!.....Because it was ladbrokes I didnt want to chance being "found out" that i was the owner of a site that actively marketed rival online operators!!.

So my first site was a dating site., which was free to join and use but i wanted to learn how to run a site behind the scenes. Two years later in 2006 I had a brain wave and discussed it over a "messy beer" with Webz, he liked it and from there poker profile world was born. I still couldnt do much with it though because I still worked at ladbrokes now its 2009, I dont work for any online operator and watch out world!!

I selected almost all of them but "a friend talked me into it." I was a player, figured out I could make more in commissions than playing, wanted to pad my income, wanted to work from home, and wanted a change of career.

I had an involuntary change of career when I was laid off from my job in digital cartography, so when I took a "job" selling insurance in addition to selling gambling, I've been on 100% commission since last year! While things are slowly getting off the ground, I'm hoping to be able to whittle my hours selling insurance down to part time until I build up some good renewals and keep my sites running.

In the mean time, I hope I can enhance my technical skills as far as being a webmaster is concerned and maybe shoehorn myself into another field.

I own a small Web Hosting company, one day a person that works next door (big time gambler) asked me if I can build an affiliate site for him, I did and he change his mind, by then I had done my homework about affiliate sites so I decided to give it a try, I'm still here with more sites!

After being an internet consultant for close to 10 years and making my clients plenty of money from the web, I decided it was time to make money off of the web myself and this seemed like one of the more lucrative ways of going about it.

I used to be a player, and I came across a spam site suggesting the use of Martingale betting system to win at roulette.
I won a lot, but I decided to figure out why casinos were allowing people to win money so easily...
I then figured out that person was pushing people using martingale for some kind of income.
And now: I'm an affiliate too!!! An effiliate with more ethic obviosly!

A couple of years back, a friend of mine relayed his own experience, of how lucrative casino affiliate marketing can be. As i was also looking to learn about web design, seo etc. I thought a casino portal would be the perfect place to start.

As of yet I still have some way in turning this to a full time project, however I suppose I find it rewarding just knowing my site is affiliated to what i personally believe to be amongst the best online casino partners and I am always striving to improve my content.
